Hello Sweetie,

I went through very dark times about loosing my hair. I went from lovely long hair to it falling out in bits and it was very hard. I thought why me at one stage and went into a depression. I hated looking like a balding freak. I started looking on the net to find someone to help me and I found a similar site that helped me. The people on the site welcomed me and answered all my questions. Sweetie you are not alone, we are here to help you. Just remember you are never alone.

I have tried every type of cream, steriod tablets, light treatment from my consultant in london and it dient work, I went from feeling helpless, to upset, to angry, to why me, to shear desperationa and wanting to die as my hair kept coming out and alopecians did help me. I became a hermit and one day I got up and thought sod this, I am going to cut all my hair that is left off and it wasnt alot and I felt like a weight had been taken off my shoulders.

That feeling made me buy some wigs and they looked pretty good. Then I had the fear of going to tescos and wandering if anyone was looking at me and yes they did, but I realised when I actually went up to this women who was looking at me and said excuse me with a smile on my face which was bloody hard for me to do and asked her why she was looking so intently at me. She replied that she wished she could get her hair as nicely placed as mine. I smiled again and had a crock in my throat and said I have alopecia this is a wig, and I pulled it up slightly and she was so lovely to me and it was fantastic. Now we are friends.

Now I am very open with people. But sweetie it does take a long time to get over and to go through but remember we are all beautiful with or without hair. And remember if you ever need someone to talk to come to my support group on a monday or you are welcome to come and chat to us oldy alopecians who will be their for you every step of the way. Any question you have just ask, it will not be silly or if you need to rant and rave, just do it, we know we have been their.

Love and Kisses and Hugs, keep smiling sweet pea.
Karen
