With AA or AU can you see your hair follicles? My doctor wants to do the injections but I don't see any hair follicles on my temples. Going to the derm tomorrow. Thanks

I have AA and I can see mine.

I have both, I can see them especially where the hair is growing back in, they almost look like divots, but there are areas that are supper smooth and I cant see them, or at least not as easily. I think that when the hair is gone, or smooth, you may not see them as readily, but that may not mean that they are not still there.

Hi Christine, I have been having a bad week. I feel so stupid to be so sad over my hair. My husband thinks I should just get over it instantly, but its so hard. I want to be my old self and have fun again. I don't even want to go around my friends. I keep thinking of having to wear a wig or hat forever. I keep praying to be strong for my family. I just feel so lost sometimes...

Michele, I'm sorry to hear that things have been bad lately, I went through feeling like I was alone with this, no one seemed to get it including my closest friends, that just seemed to make it harder. I sometimes would feel like no one cared, because the didn't seem to acknowledge the severity of what it was doing to me. I get it!! I've tried to think about it from their point of view, and I'd like to think that those closest to us just want us to not think it was a big deal, because they don't feel differently towards us just because of our hair. I'm just now facing the fact that I will more than likely be wearing wigs for the rest of my life, something new to me, and unusual for someone who has had this for ten years. I got a pretty great hair replacement, it's not perfect because it's not growing out of my head, I can still get upset at bedtime when I take it off, because there is my newly bald head, but most of the time I feel pretty good about it. Don't beat yourself up over feeling sad and angry over all this, we all have bad periods, the day after I buzzed my head I went into my doctor for a letter for the insurance and sat there and cried, she was great and explained to me, although I was so happy the day I got my gripper, on day two I was hit with the fact that my hair was gone, and every day I would be putting that on. How does your husband feel about you wearing a wig? How do you feel? Are you at the point where you need one? I'm praying for you too! You will get through this! God is good, and if you ask him for strength I believe he will give that to you. I'm here if you want to talk, you can PM me if you want.
Christine

Yes I wear a wig to work, now every day. I could probably wear some kind of nice hat to work since I do have some hair left. I bought a little hairpiece but I don't think it looks good. My hair is too thin and I have lost all the sides and top thinning. My husband tells me I look good in the wig. He is supportive about the wig. I can't go to work with just my hair. Believe me I know God is with me through this. I could not do it without him. Can you tell me about your hair replacement that you have. Sometimes I feel that shaving my head would be better than seeing the balding. I just started having to wear the wig. After work I needed to go to the store, but came home instead. I did not want to go in with my wig. I need to find one that looks more natural. I've already spent $1000.00 on wigs and only like one. I felt guilty not buying one from this new wig shop because she spent so much time with me over the last month, but I bought it anyway. It's definitely too much hair. Now I'm afraid to buy one because its so hard to find the right color. I have to travel out of state to find good wig shops. My work family are fine with me and the wig, I have not worn it around my closests friends. I just wear a hat. I need to get that over with though. I did wear the wig to church and everyone commented on how nice I looked. I have to admit I look much better with the wig and feel better about myself. I think I am even getting used to wearing it, at first it was itching and uncomfortable. Any wig advice you can give me will be appreciated. Thanks for the support, I definitely need it.

Michelle: I think every wig needs a bit (or much) shaping to look natural. Have you ever bought one online or from a catalogue and it looks 180 degrees different on you? It is not you...they have been styled before the pic was taken. I have 2 synthetic wigs that are both great. They have lasted a year and only one is getting a bit grungy along the neckline. They were 100 dollars each and when I think of what I used to spend on hair products and at the salon, these are a bargain. But both needed to be shaped before they lost their "wiggy" look. As for the itching, do you wear a wig cap underneath? Since I am now skin bald I find the cap (netting) helps anchor the wig quite a bit and cuts down on the itching as well. You will be fine. Yes, we all want our hair back, but in the meantime, we will be fine. Blessings.

Michele,
I sent you a friend request so I can PM you. It sounds like the one wig you have that's wiggy looking may just need to be shaped or thinned out, most need some tweaking, the gripper that I got is really great, it was pricey, and I know there are lots of different type of wigs, mine is not itchy, and is super secure, it's human hair, and looks pretty natural, I think I could get it shaped up a bit, but I don't know anyone who cuts wigs, so I'm afraid to just take a chance with it. It sounds like you have a good wig, and your getting compliments on it, and nothing feels getter than that, each time someone tells you they like your hair your confidence will build, I think the trick is to wear it daily, you will begin to forget it's even there. Having buzzed what was left was a good thing for me, the wig itself feels so much better, they foiled mine after I got it, so the color is great. I think most HH wigs can be custom colored for you. I'd be glad to answer any questions you have, I'm pretty new to this too, maybe we can help each other.

I get injections everytime I notice a spot. Has always worked for me, spotless as of today. Spots start where I cannot see, so not sure if I can see follicles or not.
Good Luck

Dear all, i am new, my membership has just got approved minutes ago.

i now believe i am not alone with my problem of AA.

i have been having the patchy at the back of my head, it is distressing and it does not feel good at all.

i have gone to dermatologist who recommended steroids injection which i am very reluctant to try. i started to engage treatment with Svenson 2 months ago going thru follicles activation program...i have yet to see any improvement.

in any case, for those who have not known, i am starting to get a treatment package from an India Doctor (Rohit Shah). i have been reading the testimonials in the website for the past few weeks and it seems very encouraging/convincing. i will try it out and share with you guys the results....

peace to all...

does the doc in India have a website?

try this webpage and read all the testimonials....i m so looking forward to seeing positive results, but this is just 3rd day of my home treatment so cant share much.
