Hi,

I'm new here I was just diagnosed with AA feb 19th 2014 and my dermatologist prescribed me with a rubbing medicine, ever since I have been reading about how acupuncture, biotin, onion juice and gluten free diet works for some people and I was wondering if any of you have tried this and if so what have your results been?

I'm trying to stay positive but my hair keeps falling out a lot so far I have 11 bald spots one of them is really big, I would love to have friends on this page that are going thru the same thing that I am! Thank you for your time and God bless!

Wow one of my friends is acupuncturist but I'm scare you know, she told me that it actually helps! How are you feeling now and how are you dealing with your AU? I'm curious to try gluten free diet
I have been using the anti inflammatory diet since July it is a very healthy way to eat and I feel good on it, can't say if it has helped slow down my hair loss but it is worth a try for its overall health benefits. Check out dr Andrew Weil website to get details. I also juice lots of veg every day to increase my phyto nutrients. I take turmeric, ginger, high dose fish oil and a regular vitamin/mineral tablet.

All if this is great for my health and is proven to work for auto immune conditions.

Good health. Xx
Thank you so much for taking time to reply to me and thank you for sharing all this information with me I really appreciate it :)!

Hi Monik:

I've had AA since my teens. In the last 6-7 months it just started galloping. I believe it was due to a new medicine that I took. Huge amounts of hair came out, had it cut to about 1/2 an inch and even though I'm trying everything, I don't know how much help any of it has done.

It's a tough disease because, except for specialists, doctors really aren't interested.

I'd be happy to keep up a correspondence with you.

Best,

Tovah

Thank you for your friend request I would love to keep in touch with you too, I'm new with AA and it's very overwhelming

We have tried, biotin, onion juice and gf diets, nothing worked. The one thing that has worked for my daughter who gets about 2-3 spots on average a year is squaric acid. We use it once a week for 4-6 weeks and usually start to se re-growth then....until the next cycle. Once the hair starts to re-grow, we stop the treatment.

Wow. What's squaric acid? I'm new in this journey and I would love to get as much info as I can, I have a liquid ointment that I put 2 a day on my bald spots but my hair keeps falling out some days it would fall just a little and the next it would fall a lot

onion juice.  oh man.. i've done it, and am still working with it.  But i'm not getting much on the results.  Biotin with help the hair skin and nails. I"ve been taking it since 2005, and STILL i have the recurrent "fall out" at the end of the year.  I can almost predict when it's going to happen now.  In April i get a growth spurt, summer, i have a healthy head of hair, and during the fall season - here it comes, the shedding.

I stay persistent with trying something new.  When i had my first fall out, i was 3/4 bald. It would barely grow back on it's own, but with the help of supplements including biotin it grew in a bit thicker.  But there's still the recurring bald spots.

My trouble spots are the right temple (comet shaped, palm sized), parietal (near the crown palm sized), above each ear comet shaped.  (Palm sized)

The onion juice is actually a hair mask/mixture  that people use once or twice a week.  I've tried using the onion juice alone, daily.. It dried out my tightly coiled hair and broke it off.  especially at the temples.

I've mixed it with a little oil to help moisturize the area. Not enough oil, too much juice.. co-workers/patients were looking at me as if i worked at a pizzeria.

thus, i've increased the oil which is better for tightly coiled hair anyway, and held back on the onion/garlic juice a few drops.  This mixture i massage into the scalp wash out at the end of the day.

The only thing i can report with this experiment? The hair that doesn't fall out is lot healthier/stronger.  Nothing more.
