It takes a lot of courage to be bald. The world does not accept bald women very easily. To stand in the light of living with alopecia is a character builder. I figure I was blessed with this because I could handle it. I could'nt run from it...it was my reality. So, I have hid my alopecia, as much as I could, for the last 35 years. I am now 55 and MOST of my hair fell out...making it impossible to hide it anylonger. So, I now have joined the ranks of bald women and what a freedom this entire process has been for me. We each have to experience our own journey and I wish you much love and compassion along the way. You are beautiful just the way you are.

It's incredible how long it takes, but how easy it is once we cross over to acceptance, whether it be wearing a wig, scarf or going completely bald. Congratulations.

It has been unseasonably warm here and so I have had to opportunity to shed my head coverings and expose my head in public. Not really a big deal. It's like anything else so far. I can't believe how helpful it has been for me to speak to others with alopecia. I had no idea that I had a need for this type of community. Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my post. Happy St. Patricks Day:)
