Is there such a thing as an affordable wig?
I am trying to find a full mesh cap wig in petite.
I am looking for a shortish straight style that is NOT a pixie cut.
(Why does it seem that the only petite wigs are in a pixie cut or granny curls?)
I am finding that such a wig will cost $1,000 and up.
I hate when they tell me I can go on a "payment plan' or just put it on a credit card or worse yet; take out a loan.
It's a wig, not a house or car.
Plus, because I live in Ontario, Canada I get fleeced on shipping & duty etc.
Can anybody help me find a comfy wig that won't break the bank?

I've personally started wearing synthetic lace front wigs and buying some wigs off eBay. It's WAY cheaper (like, $20-$100) and I can always change my style. Look into wig reviews on YouTube as well. :) Hope this helps!
eBay is where I went first. It is cheaper but I also found it to be a bit of a crapshoot sometimes. I now have a box of costume wigs.
Dear Brandy
Try Jewish Places in Toronto! There is a brand called Milano Wigs that makes great wigs for under 1000....the truth is though the cheaper the wig the less long it lasts...
I have had two Shevy wigs (also a jewish wig company) that I have been wearing DAILY for the past four years and they are still fine! just needed some colouring in between....
Good luck!

You can look at the web site for Milano wigs. They are one of the few companies that make short human hair wigs. Most of their wigs are European hair but some are a mixture of European and Asian and then are labelled "processed". There is a distributor in Toronto for them. You can order a wig with a small size cap, and have it sent to the distributor in a shipment,so then you don't have to pay the customs. If you get a short wig it will definitely be much less that $1,000-more like $700. They also are not too dense at the front, so you don't have to have a stylist thin or cut them. Send me a private message if you want more info.
Aimee, I do like the Linda but it gets a little confusing (for me) as to the type of cap. Can you tell me if it's a full mesh cap and NOT have 'wefts' in the back (spaces that you can poke fingers through)? Any other details about the wig that would help me?
Hey,

i just ordered my first ever wig from this web site.

http://ba-hairapparent.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=63&Itemid=90&lang=en

(don't be put off by the pictures of men, they do women too.)

I got a full lace custom wig (i sent in head measurements) 18inch hair and it was $220 AU including postage.

I emailed the guy about 20 times and he was really patient and helpful.

Why don't you do something like that and then just take it to the hair dressers and style it how you want.

My natural hair was in a short concave bob and all the wigs i tried on in that style were too long or too short or too thick.

So i just decided to go for something long - i feel like a barbie!

Good luck.
I'd love to see what your wig looks like, inside & out. How does it stay on? They mention a lot of adhesives etc.
I've been buying synthetic wigs for less than $100 from Paula Young and Beautytrends. Not all the wigs are lace cap but they are comfortable and they look great. They come in all sizes and the styles are attractive.
The last few wigs I have gotten from Paula Young. They are great, but limited if you have a small head it's mostly pixie cuts and granny curls. I currently have the Sheer Satisfaction which has a sheer mesh cap, but it is a pixie cut which I am uncomfortable in. It's just not 'me'. :(
Unfortunately, they don't offer the Sheer Satisfaction anymore. That one in a petite was my favorite. I wish I bought more when I could. :(
Does anyone have any experience with Follea wigs, like the Gripper?
Hi Brandy,
My name is Carmen West and I am a hairdresser, I cut and style all kinds of wigs and hairpieces. Recently I have cut and styled several Grippers. I found the hair looks and feels good. The clients that have tem seam to love that they are cool and easy to style. I have also, put a perm in a gripper for a lady in CA and she loves being able to make it look like her hair use to look with easy to take care of curls. If you have other questions email me at cwestgb@aol.com. Hope this helps, Carmen
