I have the type of alopecia that sheds and grows back, sheds and grows back all the time... I am just curious, have any of you with this type of alopecia had it while pregnant? Do the hormones effect the shedding or growing back rates at all? Thanks for any input!

Hi

I don't have alopecia but help many people that do.  In my experience pregnancy can be a trigger either way...I mean for hair to grow or fall out.  Many ladies that have aa will get regrowth during pregnancy...but often it will fall out once the baby has arrived.  I think this is one of the things that needs to be studied by the powers that be....hormones for woman often have an effect on Alopecia areata.

There seems to be hotspots in womens life's where alopecia seems more prevalent (puberty, pregnancy and menopause).  Obviously this is not for all woman but their is some sort of correlation between those events and alopecia areata.
