Hi, so I was diagnosed with Alopecia Ophiasis last summer. I've been getting shots since then and I have had regrowth but now i am starting to lose facial hair on my cheek and my eyebrow. And on the front of my scalp. And on my arms again. I was wondering if I still have Ophiasis or if this is turned into something else. Universalis?

I think only your doctor could tell you for sure and he/she may not totally convinced you will develop AU. Alopecia is so unpredictable that you just never know. My daughter has AU and the hair loss started on her head and then to arms and legs. Over the past 5 years she has had regrowth on legs and underarms and face. She never got her head hair back, but some eyebrow and lashes have returned. It seems to be a wait and see thing. I wish any of us would know if and when it would all go or for that matter come back. In the meantime, she lives a wonderful life with amazing wigs and cosmetics. She never misses a beat on the journey of life. She is an inspiration to me and to all who know and love her.

Hi, my alopecia also turned into Ophiasis in sept 2015. I experience the same with the shots. I have also noticed that the shots are not as effective as they used to be in the beginning. I am so sad; I keep seeing short hairs falling out every day. I am interested in trying the LDN (low dose naltrexone), as some here on the forum are enthousiastic about. There's not a lot of research for AA available onine, but I hope that anyone who is using it could share their experiences. Did you check your blood, etc? I wonder what exactly causes Ophiasis. It's such a strange and stubborn thing. I can't find any research wether there is a chance of spontaneous remission.
