Hey everyone I'm new to this site. But this is my deal. Ok so I first had a big ol bald spot on top of my head when i was in elementary school right. it went away but i didnt forget about it. Then i got another one on the back of my head when i was like 16ish i think. went away again. Then i got another one on the back left side of my head when i was 19 then another one on the back right side. the one on the left went away after like a month or two, but the one on the right stayed for like a freakin year. but that went away last november. then this year i had somethin like one but not like the others. it was wierd like just 2 small lines missin hair but their was still hairs in the middle of the lines. wasnt that big of a deal but then out of nowhere like 2 weeks ago a grip of my hair started fallin out. now i got like 4 spots on the back of my head. worse case i ever had. stressin me out foreal. dont know if i should say F it and shave it all off or just keep sportin the bald spots. im not exactly the type of dude to wear a wig and what not, but i never shaved my head totally bald before either. not sure how ima look. only thing is i look completely normal from the front. but like my boy say quoting SNL "da back of yo head look ridicolous!" Any advice please let me know. I did some readin online n some people say they used onion and natural type stuff, so im trying that out plus some pills i got from chinatown supposed to make your hair grow. so we'll see what happens with it and i'll let y'all know if it works or not. Please hit me back if you got any advice. Thanks.

My daughter was diagnosed with AA about 3.5 months ago. About a month ago we started applying onion juice to her head every day and about a week and a half afterwards we started seeing regrowth. She has lost about 75% of her hair but about 50% of that is growing back so far. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence or if it was the onion juice, but nonetheless I'm not stopping it. We just take a nice big juicy onion and throw it in the food processor and mulch it up really well... I then just strain it and I can get about 3 days worth of onion juice from that one onion and apply it using a cotton pad. About 2 hours later I'll wash it out for her. The only problem with it is that your head really does stink of onion... and it does take a while for the smell to go away. It doesn't bother my daughter and so I just continue doing it. It hasn't stop more hair from falling out though... I just assume those hairs were meant to fall out and would have fallen out anyway. We tried steroid cream and I wasn't crazy about it or the possible side effects and so opted the natural route. I hope it works for you as we think it worked for us.

What sort of pills are you taking that helps grow hair back? I'm going to start looking into the Chinese remedies... they seem to have a lot :)
Hey. Thanks for replying. Well I got two different types of chinese pills but i think they are the same thing. One i got from the vitamin store called Fo-Ti "Ho -Shou-Wu" and the other I got from China town called Yang Xue Sheng Fa capsules. Both were really cheap. The one from China town was like $3.50 and it came with 40 pills and the other was like$8-9 and it has 100 pills. I been kinda overdosing on em cause I figure with my body weight im a lot bigger then average Chinese guy but probably dont wanna do that with a child. I tried the steroid cream a few times in the past and it never worked so I said screw it and eventually my hair grew back on its own, but i had a co-worker who had it too and he said the steroid cream worked so who knows. I just barely started taking them so ill let you know whats up on some results in a few weeks. hopefully good results haha.
you're so right. it is only hair. weird thing is i've done some crazy things in my life and never thought twice or was scared, but the thought of shaving my head scares the sh*t outta me. lol. maybe ill get really wasted and get some liquid courage and do it.
I first had AA 2 years ago with about 5 spots, most small and all I could hide with my hair just looking a little thinner. Most people thought I had a hair cut....LOL Now in April I had my second flare up and like you it means business. I have about 60% hairloss and looked like someone took a razor down the center of my scalp, so no hiding it this time. Without shaving it, I felt as though it looked like I had a case of the mange. I went to have it cut really short and the beautician said I needed to shave it off and start over. I was scared, but had been told this by others as well, so told her to do it before I change my mind. Wow, what a difference it made. Not sure why we subconsiously think it would be bad to shave it off, as I have been told my head is perfectly shaped for being bald. It does look better shaved that with the mangy look going on. I do miss my hair but with the hair I was looking at the bald spots, without the hair we tend to focus on the patches of hair instead. Not sure why, like looking a glass half empty or half full. Now I have my own clippers and use them weekly. Not sure how something like AA can be dormant for 50 years before it showed up in my life, but grateful that it is not one of the other auto immune diseases, but yes there are days I really grow tired of having no hair. But shaving it was the best move I made to help deal with it. I am also a professional in management for a major corporation, so looking and dressing nice is critical in my position, but have learned to be very creative with head covers. Can't wait for cooler weather so I can try and cope with the wig thing. That is another obstacle for some alopecians (me....lol) in trying to find a wig that when I look in the mirror it doesn't look like I am seeing someone else...LOL
