Hi. I'm 9 months pregnant. I started losing my hair at 3 mths and am not almost bald and have list most of my eyebrows. I never lost my hair before. Has this happened to anyone else? I really don't know how I'm going to cope with my new born n trying to come to terms with the way I now look/ feel about myself.

Hi
In my experience there seems to be some hotspots in people's lives especially woman -puberty,pregnancy and menopause. Of course there are other times people get alopecia but I have noticed this trend over the years that I have been involved with those who have alopecia. So, this isn't unheard of.

I'm really sorry this has happened to you. Do you have anyone close that you can confide in and discuss your feelings with? I think a bit of support at this time would be very good for you. Have you talked to your doctor about how you are feeling?

If you need to ask anything feel free to message me.

Hi Ann,

I hope your doing well. Do you have any updates on your situation?

Hi! How did it go once you had your baby? I'm pregnant and was just diagnosed with alopecia and it's getting worse.

Hi Ann,
I was 5 months pregnant when I first developed Alopecia. I've never had a history of it nor has anyone in my family. It was very strange and at the time I had no idea what was going on, I attributed the hair loss to hormones. I wound up losing all the hair on my head within 6 months. Every Dr I went too was baffled and had "never seen anything like it"... I had my daughter and my hair grew back. Fast forward 1 year later and I lost my hair again, all of it. I became AU. I've been battling this for 4 years now.
I took Xeljanz and got about 85% of my hair back on my head but had to stop because I am now pregnant with my second. The hair that grew is slowly shedding but I'm praying it holds on or for a miracle that it just starts to grow on it's on. I'm sorry you are going through this. The devestation of losing your hair mixed with the emotional roller coaster or pregnancy is something I could never explain to another human being.
Keep hope and try not to let alopecia steal your joy.

Hi Sadele, how far along in your pregnancy are you? Did the hair start falling out immediately after you stopped Xeljanz? How much have you lost? Good luck!
Hi BOB,
I'm 11 weeks right now. I stopped the xeljanz and my hair is very slowly shedding. I've lost the hair close to both temples and lower back and the hair on top is thinning. The xeljanz does work for me when I'm taking it, however, my lashes and brows hadn't come in 100%.
There is a trail that just resumed through Concert Pharmaceutical and Dr King felt it was very promising. I'll resume xeljanz or hopefully get the Concert medication in 2018 after the baby is born.
Hi sadele.. just wondering did Dr King give u an estimate on when celjanz will be fda approved for alopecia?
I haven't heard anything recent about xeljanz getting approved for alopecia. I keep looking online hoping to see something.
Hi Ann and Sadele, how is your hair growth/loss? I am on Xeljanz and my endocrinologist said that when I get pregnant and stop Xeljanz, that does not necessarily mean I will loose my hair b/c pregnancy acts as an immune suppressant. Would be interested in hearing more about your current status.

Hi BCB,

I went off Xeljanz at 7 weeks pregnant and have been off ever since, I am now 18 weeks pregnant. I had about 90% growth on my head at that point of being newly pregnant. Since I've been off it for 11 weeks now I've lost quite a bit of hair and it's still shedding. Although it's not as bad as it has been, I now have spots I can not hide. Above both temples are completely gone and I have a very large spot on the back of the head. I also have spots on top. I'm close to shaving it off because a headband isn't covering it as well now.

I do know that pregnancy suppresses the immune system, it's obvious at how much slower my hair is falling out.

Thanks for the info! I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and have lost about 95% of my hair since going off Xeljanz at the beginning of my pregnancy. Did you go back on Xeljanz after the arrival of you baby? I have received mixed messages about Xeljanz and nursing. Did you have any experience with this?
