I live in PA also, and exp the seasonal spot loses too. I started getting AA when I moved to WESTERN PA for college (note: where there is little sunlight throughout the fall and winter months) and started losing hair during my sophomore year.
During the summer months I work seasonal jobs at beach parks (DE, OBX, etc) and notice amazing regrowth. I am refusing steroids now and want to see if the pattern continues.
Sounds dumb but, would tanning allow your body to use certain vitamins properly? Because I might consider doing it once in a while. I never tanned in a booth before but if it could mimic sunlight that might be good for the body... Who knows. :P
Wow... really interesting! I have been struggling with AA for almost 3 years, and since I live in Malta (in the mediterranean) our fall winter starts late November, and I get allergies as well. This time last year I was shaving my head and wearing wigs, and funny enough my hair loss just increased again and I am struggling with what method to attack with. I never thought there could be a correlation between seasonal allergies and hair loss.
I was thinking the same thing abuot my daughter. Her hair grew back in the summer but lsoing it again this fall. I hate that there are no answers to this!!
I have also noticed a pattern in the late fall/winter when the loss accelerates and re growth occurs during the warmer months. I live in MA. I agree with the sensation symptom too; I feel a soreness/tingling in the areas of my scalp where hair is starting to get thinner and patches develop! I'm in my 6th year of a loss/regrowth cycle, having gone AU twice. Now I'm in a large bald patch occurrence with decent hair coverage, which is new for me.
It is really irritating that there is no answer to something millions are suffering from :( My AA is continuing to get worse, multiple spots on my head, half of the eyelashes on my right eye, and various spots in my pubic area. I caved and got percribed Prednisone for the 3rd time in 1.5 years... I hate being on medicine- and dealing with side effects, but I hate seeing hair all over the floor, on my pillow and feeling it fall on my shoulders too! Good luck to you all and hope this seasonal bout ends soon!
