Hi All,

Just curious on suggestions for the best online wig stores. I've wore wigs for nearly 20 years and always ordered from the same wig shop, but recently moved out of state and have no idea what company they were ordered from.  I wear human hair, and the cap is all fake scalp so it can be parted anywhere.  I'm not a fan of the lace front if that makes a difference.  Not sure where to start so any suggestions are appreciated!  Very nervous about making such a an expensive investment online.

Thanks!

Courtney

I order from Silkawigs. The last two years in a row and i'm about to order a third soon. The last two have been European virgin hair with Silk top, and they are lace front (but I don't use the lace front I prefer not to have it because I cut in bangs anyway ) I've had a lot of wigs over the years and these have been the best quality overall. Very soft and long lasting, and NO matting like every other wig Ive had.

The sad thing is their prices just went up, the European hair is very expensive now and I may have to order Brazillian instead becaseu it is more affordable.

I also suggest ordering lower density in the Silk top area.. I find 90% is really good for a natural looking scalp and makes it less bulky.

Great, thanks so much!  Im lucky to have insurance that will cover one unit per year, so these are definitely an option for me!  Can I ask what you use to keep it secure?  I'm completely bald, so I cant use the combs.  Currently I used a double sided tape, but not sure how that would work with the lace and silk tops.

I don't use anything on a regular basis, just keep it snug. But what I usually do with my wigs is sew in small pieces of polygrip or thin skin at the temples so that you can use your double sided tape. I was finding over time it was irritating the skin on my temples so I don't do it often anymore. But that's what I would suggest in terms of attaching it. If it fits properly you don't need a lot to keep it secure so I find just at the temples is best.

I've never used the combs.

Can I ask how you got insurance to cover the unit? And where abouts do you live?

thanks!

I've found that most insurance companies do cover the units for cancer and alopecia since it is considered "medically necessary".  Basically you have to get a prescription from your doctor saying the unit is needed for alopecia and make sure the receipt reads cranial prosthesis.  I would give your insurance company a call and ask if they cover, but use that wording.  If you say wig or hair piece they will say no and deny it.

I like in Austin Texas, how about you?

I also tried it, It has good quality

are you talking about silka wigs? What type of hair did you get? (European, Brazilian..etc?)

Hi Courtney, I've ordered online and I'm looking at ordering online again.  I have worn Gemtress Venezia for last few years ordered off of Lori's Wigsite.  This has been the best one I found in last ten years, but of course I'm always on the lookout for new products.  I am now seriously looking at Milano Wigs' new Divine unit, and trying to weigh the pro's and con's of the Gemtress I wear to this potential new product.  Have you tried either, and how would you compare them to what you are used to?

For me it is key to have a comfortable cap that I don't need to glue, tape or clip (I don't have any hair).  And I need to feel secure in it walking outside on a windy day.  My current piece (Gemtress Venezia) trumps any of the other ones I've worn in that department.  The only reason I'm looking at other lines is that I get frustrated is that the hair starts tangling at the one year mark and it's a high cost wig for only one year use.  As well, I can't part my hair in a straight part only zig-zag, as I need to hide the transition from silk top to lace front.  The Milano's Divine is all lace at the top offering a clean & invisible straight part.
