Hi, I'm new here, bear with me, I'm still learning how to do everything on here! I have alopecia areata. The ophiasis pattern, I'm currently taking Cimetidine 800MG prescribed by my dermatologist, also known as 'Tagament' and I'm also prescribed to the Olux Foam. I was curious as to if anyone has been on these medications, and tried over the counter vitamins such as: Biotin, Gelatin or anything of that sort. I heard it helped some people; but I was worried if it would mess anything up with my current prescribed medicines, like counteract it or something? I'm seriously willing to try everything; I went for my second appointment last month, the doctor said it looked like it was recovering pretty well.. Although just recently its starting to fall out little by little which is how it started to begin with. I just turned 18, I'm still trying to cope with this condition; being a part of this site has really helped. I spend a lot of time on here and it really uplifts me and gives me hope. Anyhow, any kind of advice or suggestions; would be greaaatly appreciated. I live in a very very small town, and I don't know a single person that has this; it would be great to make some friends who I can share this with!

Thank you. :)

Hi. Welcome to this site. My daughter has Alopecia. Due to her age , the only thing our Derm prescribed was Topical Corticosteroid cream and minoxidil. She also said we can give her Biotin. We give her 150mg every day , half of the adult dose. Since it was recommended by the Derm, it shouldn't be counter reacting with her creams. Hope thus helps. Good luck with your treatments.
Thanks so much! :)
I reallly do appreciate it!
