Hey everyone... my daughter has alopecia universalis and her nails are not exactly in the best shape. They don't grow very much and the ends are always breaking. I was wondering what other people are doing to make their nails stronger. We give her 1000 mcg of biotin a day but it doesn't seem to be helping much... or rather it probably is helping in that it's not getting worse. Is there anything else that can be done? Thanks in advance...

Look back at past discussions on nails. Biotin seems to be the best suggestion.

I had the same problem. I started using Nailtique nail polish--the Protein 2+ type. You apply a basecoat, then reapply everyday until the nails are stronger. Then you can change it to every other day or a few times a week. I also keep my nails really short so they don't catch on anything and tear. I hope this helps.

she might be iron deficient.. toddlers usually are! have her ferritin levels checked asap by a doctor! involves quick blood work..!!
