Hi Monica. I too know how it feels to have a horrible family issue. I have two sisters and one brother which I have nothing to do with since my parents died, which has been 3 years now. There was always favoritism, and I wasn't the favorite child. Just to let you know, you are not alone.

There comes that moment when each of us has to stop thinking of self in terms of being a family member from the CURRENT (and sometime dysfunctional) family, and start imagining life as a college student, traveler, single professional, apartment owner or adult with new family and children of our own...where WE create the mood and make the rules. Until you move out, start the Hope Chest of items for your new places, sketch your dream decor, plan your next steps. You can take yourself into this reverie any time your family is stressing you out. Find friends outside of home within the new profession, sport or hobby. You will meet others who will listen: the more you meet, the more your chances for life-long friendships to start. Be selective. Find a support group or phone contact at www.naaf.org for the hair issues.
