My grandaughter was diagnosed with Alopecia in January of 2010. We just noticed that all of her bald spots are now covered with fine hair. I am very excited and concerned at the same time. Am I correct in my understanding that the hair growth may not be permanent and that it may turn from AA to Totalitis?

I hope it is permanent, and it could be...but AA can always return in one form or another at any point in life. Good luck to you and your cutie :)
Congrats on the new growth but anything is possible with alopecia, it could grow back and never come back or grow back stay for awhile and then fall out agian you just have to wait and see. enjoy for the time being and cross each bridge as you get to it :o)
Hi Laura so happy to hear that your noticing some regrowth. But like you have been told alot of different could happen. It could grow back in and be permanent, or go through it all again with total hair loss. With this you never know what the future holds you can only embrace the changes as they happen and stay positive. My 3 yr old son had long beautiful hair until oct 09 now his only patch is small and shaped like a giraffe :) lol! and he is ever so happy to know that on the back of his head is an animal. He also has some fine white regrowth. Not all over just some spots. But i will take whatever and go with it and of course hope it all grows back. But if not thats ok too. Good luck and I wish you all the best with your journey down this road. :)
