Hey there. So i've been getting cortisone shots for about seven months now. Yesterday I went for my appointment and today I found a small lump on the side of my head, similar to when you have bumped into something. it is sore. is this from the shots? i have never had this happen before. should i be concerned?

Hi Claudine-

Don't worry. Just phone your doctor and just say you are a little concerned about something you didn't expect and want to speak with the doctor or nurse practitioner if they have one. They will probably tell you to keep an eye on it for a couple of days and report back any changes, pain, redness, increased swelling, etc.

The better a historian you can be about how it feels or appears, the better your doc can advise whether you need for him/her to take a look. In all likelihood it's nothing.

And think back to the last day or so......it's easy to whack yourself and forget that you did it.

Hi Claudine,

I never had any lumps during 7 years of getting cortisone shots, but I frequently had little depressions in the area of the shots. The doctor said these are normal, and they filled in with time.

It wouldn't hurt to bring it to your doctor's attention.

hugs,
Tina
