Just wondering what people's experience with cortisone shots has been.
An article on the Internet says: "The average patient who opts for this treatment receives twenty to thirty shots into each patch, once per month. This treatment is only effective for the immediate area that has been injected. It does not assist hair growth in other bald areas."

This was not true at all for me. I've had it three times so far. The first time I had the sudden
appearance of about a dozen bald spots. ONE cortisone shot in my rump fixed them all.
According to this article I would have needed about 200-400 shots each month! All it took was
ONE. Same thing next time, although that time I had only one bald spot. Third time I have now. I
need to make an appointment.

Has anyone else had a similar experience to mine?

The shot in the "rump" worked for my daughter the first time but did not have any effect on my daughter's hair loss the second time. She had 4 IM shots over the course of 2 months and she developed AU. I think it depends on the severity of the case.
Thanks :) I have to find a doctor and see what their philosophy on shots is. My dermatologist before has retired plus we moved far away.
I'm wondering - can ordinary family doctors, general practitioners, give this shot also? Or should I see a dermatologist for sure? Thoughts?
Thanks,
RB
hmm I've never even been given this option, has anyone else had a positive response from this?
