Wow that is an exciting discovery. Thanks for posting it.
Wow, I agree. Some of these auto immune diseases may originate from the gut.
This was picked up by 52 news sources as of last night. I am hoping one of the pharmaceutical companies runs with it and we don't have to wait 5 years for human testing to begin.
Look at all that fur. :-)
I didn;t see you posted a similar discussion as i posted one aswell lol. Yeah hopefully it can go into some form of effective treatment ! But i don't think a cure cause it states it only blocks a stress hormone, and as everyone knows alopecia can be genetic and other factors i believe. Anyway hopes high! And hope they don't take their time as this is depending on many people, especially children who dont deserve to suffer through this disease!
i just read it on AOL exciting news! who knows how long it will take them to study on humans and stuff but still interesting :O) whats also exciting is it mentioned those with hairloss associated with aging which mean androgentic alopecia because since not all of us lost our hair thru autoimmune disease we all can have some hope.
Just heard a little blurp on this on the news. Interesting, but I'm not holding my breath. Not that I wouldn't try it as long as its safe - although it looks like that will be about 10 years from now. Did you watch the video on abcnews. They mostly talk about bald men. They also interviewed a few bald men who said that they were comfortable with the way they look right now :-)
Interesting...I just hate how they group "alopecia" with balding men due to age. They are clearly two completly different things. Alopecia is autoimmune.
Thanks for posting it.[2]
alopecia means hairloss and has many different types and the one that balding men have is yes do to genetics and age but for some it starst in their 20's and called androgenetic alopecia (hope i spelled it right) so not everything is chalked up to autoimmune. either way i hope they find some type of something that will help people out :o)
Im very aware of what alopecia is. Thats exactly my point. It shouldn't be grouped together, its not the same condition.
Hate to burst a bubble, but the article that Nicholas linked to said that it may cure only stress- or age-related hair loss. I think any news on curing ANY autoimmune disease will probably be a big step for curing alopecia.
