I would be very interested to hear from people with alopecia who have experience of gluten free, dairy free diets - what effect has this had on your hair growth ? - I have had Alopecia Universalis for many years and some time ago I did stop sugar, dairy, caffeine and wheat for 6 months and I did get some hair regrowth in that time - but life became very busy and so I did not continue with such a strict diet.

Have you tried cutting out wheat, sugar, diary  and if so what have you noticed - also has anyone had good experience using herbal remedies ? I would be glad to hear from you   Marie

Hi Marie: When my son developed this condition in Feb of this year, that was the first thing the Naturopath recommended- no dairy, gluten, sugar diet - stick to a whole foods diet. Also switched to all natural shampoo and deodorant - got rid of anything with heavy scents and chemicals.  He is on month 9 of this whole regime with excellent results - he went from roughly 10 bald patches down to one very small bald patch on the back of his head....

Thank you Pam that is very interesting to hear - and I suspect that this would help others too. The other thing that I found to be interesting is the Chinese Traditional medecine approach - which links hair growth to the kidneys - which also control bones and teeth etc - i have read a lot about this and have also taken chinese herbs.

Your son must be feeling very happy and relieved and I wish you all the best   Marie
