Does anyone have a spot that hasn't grown in years? Please help :(

I have a small bald spot that i can easily cover up since i was about 4. No hair has grown in at all. Then when i was 15-16 another small spot developed and now im 18 and i have two more extremely small spots. The first two are not very round, they are more oval and uneven. I had absolutely no regrowth on these spots and my doctor prescribed minoxidil 5%. I have been using it for 7 months and still no hair regrowth, only my diffuse hair loss stopped.

Do i have a chance at regrowth? Or should i consider hair transplant since the spots are not expanding?

Also, ive been losing my eyebrows and eyelashes but they keep growing in so i dont understand what kind of alopecia is it.

I'm sorry to hear about your hair loss. You don't say if your doctor is a dermatologist. If not, I suggest going to see one. The problem with minoxidil is that when you stop using it, you can lose your regrowth. It sounds to me, and I'm only an expert from 40 years of experience with AA, that you could have AA, if other medical reasons have been ruled out, and the sooner you get new patches treated, the sooner they come back, especially if they're small. Was there trauma to the spot you've had since you were 4? Did you see a doctor, get treated? If you're eyebrows/lashes are in and out, it sounds like you may be in an active state. The most effective treatment for me, until the past 8-10 years, was the kenalog injections. They're painful, but worth the outcome.
She is a dermatologist, and she told me to complete a year with minoxidil and see if i have regrowth. When i asked her about cortisone injections she told me to stay away from them as they do more harm than good. My mom told me that i did have a trauma on that spot so its possibly not alopecia areata, but for the others that appeared later it is, im sure. Those spots havent grown in 3 years/1 year, do you think i should try the kenalog injections? Doesnt the hair fall after you stop them, like minoxidil?
I have never had a doctor tell me to stay away from injections. They are localized, and the dose is a small amount. If done correctly, which would be aggressively every four weeks, not six (I'm repeating myself from other replies from yesterday/today), it won't be for long term either. I've had full long-term regrowth when the doctor starts the shots around the edges as well as injecting the middle. Your hair doesn't fall out due to stopping the injections, but when the AA goes into another active cycle (god bless it for doing THAT). Everyone is different, everyone has a choice in their treatment. Please do your research, don't rely 100% on your doctor, and make the treatment choice that is right for you, that you're comfortable with. Of course you should listen to what your doctor says, but she isn't the one that has to live with your AA, you are. Also, as I've said elsewhere on this site, I use Topik, a colored crushed wool powder that you apply daily to cover spots. There are other brands, but this one is easily accessible to me and it comes in all colors. Look online or in a local beauty supply store for any brand of this stuff, as I found it works as a cover in the meantime. After 40 years of lettin it all hang out there, I wish someone had told me about it sooner. These aren't easy decisions, but you need to be the one to make them, and, as wisel did, I wish you the best of luck.
Thank you so much for the advice. I did loads of research and will probably wait for 2 months and then ask her for kenalog. The spots are quite small and it seems like theyre not active at the moment. I am really happy that there is a forum like this, otherwise i would be extremely stressed because of lack of information. Good luck to you as well :)

Ps: i really hope they find a treatment, it has been years.
Thank you for the advice :) i will probably get them in two months after my exams finish. Good luck to you as well !
