My mom wants a human hair topper but the selection with a percentage of gray is not very good. We found one that is the right base color but I need to figure out if I can dye some of the strands gray.

I googled it but cannot find an answer.

Thanks so much for any information.

Hi im a hairstylist and color specialist! I also have alopecia! I would recommend getting it professionally done this would not b easy to do alone u need to find out if the hair has color in it or if its virgin hair. If it is dyed dark this will not be a easy task but if its lon the lighter side u can highlight it in very skinny weave depending how much gray she wants or a thicker weave if she wants more youd have to achieve a very light blonde then you would tone it with a platinum color normally i rinse it after just a few minutes but if left longer it will turn silver and there u go! Lol but i really wouldnt reccimend doin it by yourself if u do get a bleach at a sallys or somthing with 40 vol and a silver lady toner from wella but saying again i recommend going to a professional

Thanks Angelica - I think you are right - I will purchase the topper and take it to a salon!

I have looked rose but they seem to be very , as my mom would say at 74 years of age 'old lady-ish' LOL she wants straight hair not curly and I cant seem to find one - it having synthetic hair or even all syntheic would be fine if it were longer (like 8 inches and with gray).

That is good to know about it yellowing - I never even thought of that - you know SO MUCH ABOUT WIGS - I call you the 'WIG GURU'!!! :)))

SHe was hoping to make do with the Jessica Simpson Human Hair Fringe but that may be too short - I think she wanted to try it in an inexpensive piece first. SHe likes Paula Young wigs but they dont seem to have a topper that is not curly. I thought maybe I might experiment on the JS one but it sounds very complicated. Maybe I should just go ahead and get one made for her.
