I've never posted on discussion forms before but I felt like this place is so open and kind I had to. This question has been on my mind for a while.

I first found out I alopecia when I was 13 and my cousin was styling my hair. I was concerned but ultimately didn't know what to think. I wasn't that worried about it, afterall it was just one spot, but one spot grew into many. Now majority of my head is covered with white hair and small and medium sized bald spots (my wild, curly hair covers most of it though).

In the summer time I met a woman who had no skin pigmentation at all said she went through the same thing when she was younger. It started for her when she was 11, by the time she was 20 her whole head was white and then her skin slowly turned white too. She told me that the same thing will happen to me.

Does alopecia usually turn into complete albinoism? Will I lose my skin pigment too? I noticed it's already happening on my scalp (the places where I lose my hair turns white).

There is a condition where you can loose pigmentation but just because you have alopecia does not mean you will get this. The problem is these autoimmune conditions tend to cluster. My daughter was just diagnosed with eczema also. Just take one day at a time and deal with today. A lady that I work with has that loss of pigmentation condition and she is one of the happiest people I know. She just celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary and has 5 grandchildren. She has been a great encouragement to me with her attitude.
