European virgin wigs professionally washed and styled! Is it necessary?

I was hoping that some of you who are more experienced with European virgin hair wigs can provided some feedback. I recently purchased 2 of these type of wigs for my 12 year-old daughter who had alopecia areata but is almost gone totalis. The salon where I purchased them strongly recommended I bring them in 1x per month for a professional wash and style. They told me that this would increase the longevity of the wig by about a year. I was fully intending on doing the washing and styling myself as the additional $45.00 per month for each wig not to mention the 45 mini ute drive to the salon every month is overwhelming. Finances are tight and I have 3 other kids to take care of. I am feeling very overwhelmed. Can anyone confirm whether they think professional styling is necessary? I want the wigs to last and look good for my daughter as I just spent a total of $5000.00 on them. Thanks in advance for any suggestions and comments on the best way to wash and style them on my own. I would be interested in knowing what products people recommend too.

I have a Follea Gripper wig and Yes the gripper one I have is lace on the top and wefts at the back but Follea do have all lace wigs .. They have many kinds all of them AMAZING . I have tried many Freeman wigs and I'm only 28 the reason I have tried so many is because simply they just don't last and that's the sad truth you need to regularly get them repaired or have more than 1 and chop and change :-/ I was VERY hesitant to try anything different of wig because my freedom wig was my life I treated it like gold . But once I tired my Follea gripper wig I could never go back to freedom . I wear this one and only wig everyday and don't swap and change it around and if has little to no hair loss on it . This wig is incredibly durable unlike Freedoms . In the time I have been wearing this one wig I would have gone through 2 freedoms and this baby still looks and feels brand new and has never been touched up or repaired since I purchased it .
Oh and I like to add that my hair is soooo silly smooth it truly is amazing

No need to spend that money every month.  Go on you tube.  There are a couple of videos that will show you how to wash them.  It's not difficult.  you don't scrub them, just pet (for lack of a proper word) the shampoo and conditioner through the wig.  I have a freedom wig.

Oh wow I've bought wigs from hallucinating Hairlines online. Their wigs are European hair and they look so natural. People stop me wherever I go, I have 2 wigs and I alternate them. I think you should try them out. To answer your question I think professional wig styling is unnecessary, try and search for an easy wear wig which doesn't need styling as such because with my wigs I just flat iron them. Thank you, warm wishes

Monthly trips to the salon aren't necessary.  There are several excellent videos up on YouTube that show how to shampoo, condition, and dry a human hair wig.  There are lots of blogs that talk about styling with heat tools (curling iron, straight iron, etc. -- generally best to get ionized, don't set above 270 degrees).

You should get the wigs cut to your daughter's face/head, though -- rather than just wear them straight out of the box.  That will help them look more natural and will help you style them more easily after you shampoo/condition.
