Has anyone has their eyebrows tattooed and found it severely painful!! I mean during the tattooing and days that follow!! Like a bad nerve pain!!
If so can they tell me how they overcame it?

Yes I went to a professional as I have always encountered this horrific pain! She says its not my alopecia causing this pain as she has never known anyone to experience such discomfort! I done the trial for Topical Immunotherapy treatment with DPCP about 15yrs ago which was unsuccessful as I suffered a very bad reaction to the treatment I'm wondering if that's left me with nerve damage on my head & eyebrows! I'm going back to my dermatologist to find out! I always just thought this was how painful it was getting them done!

Hi Roslyn,

So sorry to hear about your experience!!! I went the same route a couple of times then switched over to temporary tattoo eyebrows. What a difference. So easy to apply and remove and NO pain! Here's where I get mine: www.tattoobrows.com They offer a good selection and are wonderful people to work with.

Best to you,

Jen

Sorry to hear about the pain Roslyn. I have had my brows done with no issues and have had a touch up, she uses a topical anesthesia just tender for a few days. I found her while in Tampa and go back to see her when down there for a fill in. Well worth it!
I have had an eyebrows tatooed four times now. They always numb first and as they do the procedure. This last time it was pretty uncomfortable. I asked about it and she told me that even though we would think the skin was tougher from having this done, the tech actually has to "dig" deeper because the skin is tough. Therefore it hurts more. Whether this is true or not, it made me want to cry that when these fade, it will hurt even more.
She did suggest I get a sunscreen lip balm. Apply to tatoo when outside. It will help with fading. Sorry yours hurt so bad!
Hi Linda I got mine touched up yesterday and so dread the next 3 days and that night I'm normally up all night with the pain!! But this time I went to docs with it and she gave me lidocaine patch which I put on
the night before and also to take. Gabapentin (for nerve pain) two days before 3 a day and also anti histamine!! And also the technician used her deepest topical analgesia!! But it worked!! Not much pain. A little bit nippy today but nothing much!! The best I have ever experienced this!! I'm so pleased that I now know what to do to get through it. Thank you for your comment. X

I had eyebrows and eyeliner done the same day. The eyebrows hardly hurt after the gel-the eyeliner gel had to be reapplied.

Thanks for your reply. I now know I'm highly sensitive to the treatment so just needs loads of analgesia gel and it seems to be tolerable!

I have body tattoo's and they didn't hurt getting them or afterwards, why would eyebrow tattoo's hurt?? I also don't know why they must be done over and over again. I thought tattoo's were permanent, no matter where they are? It would seem they would get done once and be done with it. ???? Where in Tampa did Anne get them done?

People that I have talked to about this have varying degrees of pain...I hope you are feeling better and looking fab.

Rosy

Lexi, cosmetic tattooing is not permanent a different type of ink is used. Everyone has a different tolerance to pain, sounds like you are lucky not feel any pain with tattoos!

Hi,
I had my done a few years back. A numbing gel was applied and it was painful but not excruciating. I had taken a muscle relaxant before hand. I would suggest this and a panadol. The follow up six weeks later was more painful I found and I didn't have any pain relief.
It is worth the pain I reckon and you never know some cosmetic tattooists may even anaesthetise the area as well as the gel
Good luck
