Any suggestions/success with eyelash regrowth?  Of course the hair loss has been devastating for me (I have AU).. However my experience has been the lashes and brows to be the most difficult part of this ordeal...(my face is entirely changes as a result of losing brows and lashes).  I have had some success with monthly injections to brows followed by daily application of topical steroid (Clobetasol) and Minoxidil, but I have had no movement with my lashes....HELP!

ANY THOUGHTS??!

Thanks :)

I have heard castor oil can help but have not tried it myself, good luck

Hi AlyNYC,

As it happens I saw my dermatologist this week. (I also have AU, 3 years now).  He suggested a topical drug called Latisse for eyelashes.  Latisse is a drug used for glaucoma. One of the side effects is eyelash growth.  He has had some success with this drug.  Here in Ontario its a $200 investment and it needs to be monitored by a doc.

As for eyebrows....we have talked about the steroid shots. The thing is once you stop the eyebrows fall out again.   I am considering eyebrow tattoo.  In the meantime I have found an EXCELLENT Eyebrow liner..its not a pencil..similar to an eye liner.  Its waterproof and very easy to do strokes.  I have become quite the make-up artist with AU.  It stays on until I wash it off.  I have had many compliments from friends who think my brows have grown in!

good luck, Michelle

Thanks for your feedback Michelle :)

My doc here in NY- Dr Jerry Shapiro (the so called "guru" in this field) has indicated that Latisse will lengthen eyelashes, however, that there is no evidence to support Latisse will result in eyebrow growth.

Nonetheless, this crazy condition is so unpredictable that I guess one never really knows!

Anyway, again...

thank you ;)

Hi Michelle,  My doctor also gave me a prescription for latisse, but I was concerned about spending that money and then them falling out again.  I got eyeliner tattooed a couple of weeks ago, but haven't done the eyebrows yet.  I had a question what eyebrow liner are you using? the one that I have been using since it is starting to get warmer I am finding it is rubbing off, so I come home with one eyebrow most days.  This is just not fun!!

Woops I realize that I forgot to mention the name...Stila 'stay all day waterproof brow color'.  It comes in 3 shades..light, medium and dark.  I leave it on over night...its nice to wake up and see my eyebrow...

AlyNYC....I don't think there is any research on Latisse for regrowth.  I think my doc is basing this on some of his experience.  Ruthie, I'm open to nonintrusive treatment that works.  Its worth a try.

I'll have to re visit that discussion with Jerry Shapiro next week...

thnx for your feedback Ruthie & Michelle :)

Thanks, will look for the eyebrow color.  I agree to being open minded, would love to hear the results, unfortunately I have spent a LOT of money in the last 3 years trying to keep my hair and now am having to work with no hair, eyelashes, eyebrows all at the same time, so It is all a little expensive.  I would love to hear how it goes for you.

Does a person need lashes etc to use Latisse or can it be applied to bare dkin?
