Hello Everyone! :):):)

I'm looking for a wig,but I hate glue and tape

Does anyone have experience with lace wigs that have a thin skin perimeter?

How does the hairline look, can you wear your hair out of your face and can you wear your wig glueless?

Also..do you find it more durable then a lace front? (i suppose the thin skin is more durable sheddes less)

Does anyone have experience with Chinese Vendors/companies?

I found a website http://www.premiumlacewigs.com
They seem reliable
careful of anything online...its good to see...and especially FEEL the quality of the hair. Remy hair can be good...but I didn't like it. Mine was course and very straight. Are there any wig shops near you?
True..It can be a big risk, but the vendors order their wigs from the same Chinese manufacturers.
Yes there are but they do not have lace front wigs or anything that resembles them and they charge way too much (sometimes for poor quality.)
A friend of mine who had cancer and receiving chemotherapy took me with her to go on wig hunting and to be honest I was disgusted how these people or most of them took advantage of her situation to sell her wigs that were of poor quality and way to expensive. She ended up with a short synthetic wig that cost her 900 dollar (you can find such a wig for 40 dollar on the net) and was too big for her head. She wore it for a short time, after a couple of weeks it tangled so much that she threw it away. She was ripped off 2 times and that costed her almost 1800 dollar all together.
She had a lot of stress because of these people and their wigs, thatś not something you need when you have chemo and might be dying.
When I was a student i boucht a small lace front of 4 centimeters, and app 10 centimeters long (very small lace front part like bangs) to cover the front part of my head, this was a well known company and they made my pay 2300 dollars for it.
While there are many fair businesses, there are too many reports similar to yours. I too, incredibly have seen synthetic wigs with $900 price tags in a shop with high overhead. Incredibly, the help scolded me for taking a wig off the display mannequin to look at the cap interior. What is it about the wig industry that spawns this? I'm hard pressed to think of another product where this happens.

I hope you'll take a look at the discussion here. and jot down suggestions for what you think wig wearers should know and should be asking themselves and the wig seller when first considering before getting a wig, especially a first one.

Good to know about the experience with them...thanks Susan.

Thea
Thanks for the tip Susan! Nice to hear that you have such good experience!
Tnx I'll take a look at it!

Some of the worst vendors aka wigmakers I've seen had a shop IN the hospital...and were very well known.
All the patients that have chemo were directed to them and believing that they are getting a topproduct for a fair price.

Lace wigs are becoming more popular and known in Europe so I expect that there will be more lace wigs and therefore cheaper products.I have already spotted some shops in bigger cities...

Well some wigsellers know that sick people are an easy victim..
Sometimes they are too sick or feeling so bad and can't compare wigs.
Many of them don't know anything about wigs, their familie doesn't either and rely on the person giving the information. It all happens very fast,so they don't have the time to prepare
I can related to the wig purchase experiences. I was referred to the local American Cancer Society for wigs. I got two wigs for my daughter - I won't say how much - just felt so stupid afterward - I trusted them. My daughter looked like she was wearing a mop on her head. She ended up with hats for a couple of months while I looked for the alternatives.
I'm sorry to hear that...I guess it's a common problem many people encounter.

The last thing you want on your mind in a stressy period (when you are most volnerable)is to feel bad about a wig, look rediculous with it and being ripped off...
People my age drove cars that cost 2300 dollars but I had a 3 cm with 10 cm lace hairpiece that looked like the tail of a dead cat and was glued to the babyhairs on my forehead ;) It can't get any worse then that :)
Here is an article that I origonally found on the internet. I ended up buying my wig here. After all the searches I found an honest place that almost didnt sell me a wig because of my cynism. Okay...I hope you both like it. I found it amusing how blunt the author was. ENJOY

Kerry xoxo

We receive calls from all over the USA and Canada from concerned and confused men, women and teens that have been to wig shops and hair replacement centers local and out of state, that need advise on what type of wigs they need for their specific hair loss condition. I have also been traveling lately to many different states to help women and children who are too sick to fly to me to have their wig made. Clients all over the USA have told me so many stories of their experiences they have had with other wig shops and hair replacement hair loss centers. Most of them have a few experiences in common.
I am writing this article to help you weed through the good and the bad and the seriously manipulative salespeople that can make your life good or just a nightmare. I hope that this advise will help you find peace in your choices you have made in deciding what wig to choose and whom you purchase from.
In this article we let you know at the end of each section written below how and what are salon is committed to so you have a comparison to what your dealing with in your local area. Having this comparison will give you the confidence needed to take a stand for what your needs are and what you can afford. We hope you enjoy!
Wiggin Out Salon has help thousands of women children and men pick the right wig for them.
We understand that not everyone is comfortable buying wigs from a wig maker when they live out of state or out of the country. We try to help as many people as our time permits in helping them choose the right wig or hair piece. Please remember that Wiggin Out Salon has a guarantee on all our custom made wigs. If your not happy with your wig or hair piece we replace your piece at "No Cost" Period.
Here are some following guidelines that will help you feel more comfortable when entering a wig shop or wig salon in your area:
1. Ask the sales person if they have wig making experience.
If the sales person does not have a background in wig making they will not have a complete understanding of all the fabrics and the way a wig is actually put together. Wig makers are trained to look at a clients head, what they are looking for , their personality type and design and make a wig that will suit their lifestyle. They will also know in depth how a wig cap functions and understand any future problems that may occur from elemental changes and wear and tear. A wig maker will be able to fix those issues in the future whereas a wig sales person may try to sell you another wig.
2. Wig Makers are in an entirely different category than someone that "has worn wigs for years"
Someone that has worn wig's for years usually has very limited experience with types of wigs that exist. Their realm of wigs only exists with what they themselves have personally experienced. Unfortunately the customer looking for the wig becomes the Guinea pig and and as the wig sales person introduces what he or she knows, they do not introduce the customer to the 90% of the world of wigs that they do not know or understand. This usually does not end well for the customer after the purchase. The customer most of the time will feel later that the wrong choice was made and the wig cap and hair do not suit their lifestyle.
The sales person may have experienced hair loss from chemo or Alopecia so they may understand what your feeling ,they may also be able to cut and style your wig. But usually there is not an understanding of all the 200 types material that are used in wig making and how they are used to make a wig cap. You wouldn't have someone make you a wedding gown that has once worn a wedding gown would you? Same goes for something as special and unique as your hair. The emotional repercussion's of wearing the wrong type of cap can be severe. but we always should leave the wig making and designing to the professionals. If your looking for a quick cheaper fix then it is a safe bet to use a wig salesperson/stylist.
3. You must know the difference in the types of hair offered!
Please Please Please asked about the hair used and make sure you actually get to see, feel and touch the hair that will be used in making your wig!
I am sorry to say that many wig shop sales people and stylists are not hair savvy and or are really not sure where the hair provided actually comes from.
I am also sorry to say that many wig shop and hair replacement centers actually "lie" about the quality of hair saying it is "European Quality" or "European Human Hair" and lately we have been seeing on line wig shop owners saying they are selling "Virgin Hair" when the hair is actually fine Indian Human Hair that has been stage lifted then coated with a silicone substance.
It also really hurts us when we see wig shop owners
will be too. The hair on a American Hair Wig could and should last up to 5-15 years depending on wear and care.
will be too. The hair on a American Hair Wig could and should last up to 5-15 years depending on wear and care.
will be too. The hair on a American Hair Wig could and should last up to 5-15 years depending on wear and care.
Virgin (only) European human hair may last up to 2 years. We don't like to use European human hair because we do not know if the hair is actually from Europe. The suppliers do not state where the hair actual is from. the hair sometimes has been processed or stage lifted.
Russian Human Hair we may sometimes use for Kosher wigs. However Russian Hair is not as healthy. Also we have been informed that because of the demand for Russian human hair, the suppliers are now cutting human hair from Russian corpses and really gross pulling the hair out of the corpse at the root.
There was a wig supply company called Hair and Compounds that was offering Hair for wigs and extensions with the "root still attached" we do not claim to know how this hair was accumulated but our experience tells us that when the root is still attached it must have been pulled out of the scalp. Ewwwwww......
If we tell you where the hair comes from you better believe we can back up our statement. Wiggin Out only sells wigs and hair that we know whom and where it came from. Our hair is again guaranteed.
We have more detailed information on our website click here to go to Wiggin Out Salons "FAQ's"

4.Know your budget! Annually and Monthly! Be A Smart Shopper!
Don't be afraid of letting the sales person know your YEARLY budget for wigs!
If you buy a wig other than American Caucasian you may find yourself buying the same $1500 wig bi monthly or every 4-6 months! The wigs look great at first buy may look different after 2-6 months and you will need to purchase an additional wigs. Do the math! Be a smart consumer. Ask questions! Make the sales person sign a disclaimer on how long their wigs last!
x's how much the wig is x's 2-or 3. Example: $1500 x 3 equal $4500! You may be spending that per year. If your going through chemo, you may need a wig for 2-4 years! X's that by $4500.00! Example you need a wig for the next 5 years. You buy a wig because it was cheaper. You may need to have that wig replaced every 3 months (the sales person didn't tell you that) You paid 1500.00 for the wig.
months divided into 1 year = 4 4x1500 = $6,000.00 per year on wigs that stress you out.
Now x $6,000.00 x 5 years= $30,000.00 in wigs. I dont know about you but I certainly cant afford that. i would rather put a nice down payment on a home.
Sounds crazy but I hear this all the time especially from Alopecia Hair Loss Clients that get stuck in a rut with the same salesperson (because they trusted her or him) or (they don't know where else to go) Do your homework and do the math. Best advise I can give you.
Buying an Raw American Caucasian human hair wig will save you possibly 10's of thousands of dollars in the end. And you wont have to go through the stress and emotional breakdown when the hair on the wig starts to look bad. :)

5. Make Sure the Wig Shop Owner or Hair Replacement Center has a Guarantee on Their Wigs! Need I say more! If they are really selling you what they are telling you they wont mind putting it on paper!
6. What happens when the wig comes in and it is not the right color and it looks nothing like you thought it would?
Again you will need to pull out the Policy that you and your wig sales person agreed upon. Wiggin Out Salon guarantees the wig all the way until after the wig is cut and colored. We NEVER stick a client with a wig that he or she does not like. EVER! Any wig shop or hair replacement company that has a policy that is pro (their company) is looking for high profit margins not looking out for theirclient's happiness. Please note; Wig makers are usually able to make adjustments when necessary for the client. Wig shop owners and hair replacement companies with no wig making background usually do not have the skill to make the appropriate adjustments the their client's wigs. JUST ASK them prior to the sale! What happens if my wig cap needs adjusting or it needs to be redesigned?

7. ASK ASK ASK!
Wig Shop owners and Hair Replacement Centers have their customers sign a purchase sheet to complete the sale. Why should consumers have a sheet as well?
Bring a list of questions to your local wig shop or hair replacement center and ASK your written questions and write their answers down. After you have your consultation, write down any more questions you may have and ASK! Write their answers down and have them SIGN your sheet! Don't be embarrassed about having them sign your questionnaire.Your spending YOUR money and they are making a profit. Sometimes a very LARGE profit. If a wig shop owner does not want to sign your list or gets defensive or doesn't want to answer them then you know what to do. This is your money, your body and your emotional state at risk. If they don't want to sign your sheet, then you have your answer.
Wiggin Out Salons has a questionnaire for our clients and we encourage clients to ask questions. We encourage clients to be informed and we enjoy educating our clients so they understand and know what they are getting. If a Wiggin Out Salon staff member encourages a clients to buy a specific type of wig cap and later the client does not feel the type of wig cap works for them, Wiggin Out Salon will accept responsibility for the suggestion and make appropriate adjustments for the client until they are happy. Sometime (it does not happen very often) Wiggin Out Salon will need to have the wig replaced with an entirely different wig cap at our expense. This is something that your local wig shop or hair replacement center should do as well.

8. Does the stylist at the wig shop, salon or Hair Replacement Center guarantee the cut or the color of your wig or hair piece?
This is important! Make sure that if the shop owner or stylist on staff that is cutting and coloring your wig guarantees the cut and color to your specifications. If the wig is cut incorrectly or the coloring ruins the wig, you will need to be assured the wig will be replaced by the establishment.
Wiggin Out Salon guarantees the wig after the cut and color to assure each client that we will take every precaution. Wiggin Out Salon is committed that every wig that leaves our salon is cut and colored exactly the way you want or we remake the wig for you. A Wiggin Out Salon Stylist has been trained in the art of cutting and coloring wigs and hair pieces. Our Wiggin Out Stylists are not only wig stylists but trained in repairing and re-designing wigs. Because of the extensive training we can give our client's this unheard of guarantee. It may take up to 6 hrs to cut a wig, but you will ALWAYS get what you asked for! Your salon or wig shop or hair replacement center should do the same. If they do not have a guarantee then DON'T DO IT! Go to a wig cutting specialist that is secure enough in his or her work to that they will guarantee the work performed. It is wise to pay more for a wig cut and usually you will have to , for you do not want a regular stylist whipping through your wig or hair piece with a scissors finding out later you have a chopped up wig that no one will replace for you. Again, ASK QUESTIONS! This is your responsibility as a smart shopper.

9. Follow Your Gut!
NEVER buy a wig because your desperate! Most of the time when a customer is desperate and emotional it is easy for a predator wig shop salesperson or hair replacement sales to sell them something they do not need. Watch out for wig shop owners that placate to your emotional state. They are their to sell you a wig! Your their to buy a wig that is going to effect your emotional state. If you want just compassion call and find a support group in your area or go on to the internet to look for women that understand what you are going through. A wig shop owner needs to be professional and give you what you need. Some people use compassion to sell you a wig that you do not need! If you fall into that trap you will be even more emotionally devastated when your expensive overpriced wig starts falling apart. People will say and do whatever they need to to get what they want. When the client is not happy they create an argument to defect the blame back onto the client making the client feel they were at fault. TAKE A STAND! Your there to find out what is best for you! Your there to find out information so you can make the best choice for YOU! Don't let a sales person that has lack of experience and very few wig cap selections sell you something you do not need because they seem compassionate! Or they understand what you are going through! Your there to buy a wig that will change your life and the way you feel after you put it on. Please we ask that you separate what someone is saying and how they are saying it and focus on what you really need and how you are feeling about what is being presented to you. If you have any doubts at all or if you have to think to much about your purchase that is a warning that you need to stop and think about it or go and compare somewhere else. The good feeling should come from your wig or purchase, not from your sales person! A sales person can be compassionate but not to be used as a tool for lack of knowledge. Wiggin Out understands that your going through a really difficult time in your life. Something as personal as a wig should be really thought through. I cannot tell you how often we have clients that come to us saying how they thought the sales person really cared and when problems began happening to their wig, the salesperson wasn't so helpful or compassionate and didn't have the answers the customer needed to help them feel at ease.

10. Does the Sales Person Speak Negatively About Competitors? (In a nice & concerned way of course ;)
Watch out for sales people or wig shop owners or stylists that speak negatively about others, especially competitors. Usually if a sales person speaks negatively about other local businesses they are actually "Speaking about themselves!" They may even speak like they really care about you. Why should a sales person speak negatively about other businesses if they are secure with what they have? This is a lack of integrity signal that you should be concerned about. Go to the other wig shops and see if what they are saying is true. You may just find a wig that your truly happy with at 50% less the cost!

11. Look out for Wig Shops or Hair Replacement Centers that claim that they donate money to charities or they have a charity. They may claim that a certain percentage goes to charity. (That on is always a good one)
Again this is another sales technique to gain trust from a potential customer pulling on their heart-strings and gain the potential customer to sell them a very inexpensive wig for a very large profit.
Common sense will tell you to again "ASK QUESTIONS" REALLY? "What Charity" "What are the numbers that you donate?" "Is this a legal non profit that you donate to?" "Who are the recipients of these donations?" This one will scare them...."Can we meet or talk to some of the recipients's that have received your donations?" After that you will probably see them sweat at the brow or 5% of the shops that claim these donations will have a professionally layed out list of all the recipient's of their donations. If they read this article then they probably may even have a list of fake names and numbers. That would be really bad. But you can always follow up. All legal charities must make public knowledge of any financial donations that are made public....to the public. Otherwise it is just another lack of integrity and sleaziness to sell a wig. Any company claiming to have a fund that is not a legal non profit is an "illegal non profit" and should be reported to authorities. Its really sad today how business will lie cheat and steal from others just to make a buck. Sad but true.
Wiggin Out Salon supports Hair Hopes for kids a LEGAL non profit that helps local children receive wigs at a highly discounted rate or for free depending on the economic situation of the family involved. Hair Hopes and Wiggin Out salon staff members introduce the hair and financial donors to the the children that are in need of the wigs. We support the interaction of both the donors and children in need so the donors may see the impact that they are having on the child in need.

12. ASK FOR BEFORE & AFTER PHOTOS!
This one is common sense. If a supposedly popular and long standing wig shop or hair replacement center has happy client's then wouldn't those client''s mind doing a before and after photo? Mind you some customers are sensitive to taking their photos. Wiggin Out Salon has realize thought the years that when a customer receives a wig or hair piece that is more than what they expected the customer usually does not mind a before and after shot of their purchase so they can show others just how grateful they were upon the receipt of their finished wig. If a hair replacement center or wig shop does not have ANY or very few photos beware. Look at those photos carefully and see if anything is off to you. The wig or hair piece may not look as natural as you thought it should. That feeling is going to effect you on a every day basis. And remember that most of those pictures (if any) were taken the day it was cut. Remember that after a few months the hair on most of these wigs start to look dry and tangle. We usually don't see the customers faces on pictures once this starts to happen.
Wiggin Salon keeps our customers happy! The hair on the wigs do not change after a few years unless the client is coloring and processing the hair (which is very damaging) A client's photos may be taken after 6 months of wearing his or her wig. We are so sure of ourselves that sometimes we do not take our afters for sometimes 6 months after purchase. Wiggin Out Salon also encourages all our clients to write testimonials online for our salon. ALL testimonial are written by real clients (not by an employee). All names from our testimonials have a face and real address to match. Again please ASK. Do Not believe everything you read. Really tricky businesses use fake email addresses to write up testimonials. Only you can ask the right questions and use your savvy shopping techniques listed above to weed out the devious shops. Great Saying "Look Out For The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing!"

13.Please Don't Pay a Membership FEE!!!!!
If your asked to pay a membership fee we ask that you think about running to the nearest exit! Membership fees and lengthy contracts are for businesses that want to trap you and make you feel you have no choice but to stay.. If a product is that good then no contract is needed right? Well now you know. We hope that you never have to sign a contract with a big membership fee unless they sign your well written agreement of what you expect from them. Its a two way street! They definitely need you more than you need them.

14. Call around and visit more than two wig shops so you can feel in the end you have made the correct choice. BE EMPOWERED!
If your confused after all your visits , write down all your questions and go visit again and have them sign. Funny how things change when you innocently pull out YOUR contract. I would never go to a car dealership without doing my homework first.

If your in the area or out of state and are interested in a phone or in person consultation you may call:

A Wiggin Out Salon team representative will assist you.

I hope this helps all of you. This article was not written to condemn other businesses. We understand there is economic hardship everywhere and now salons and hair replacement centers are popping up everywhere because of the extreme markup and unregulated items that they are able to make a whopping profit. We are simply letting the consumer know what to look out for when shopping for a wig. Unfortunately many others going to chemo and have medical hair loss issues become the victims of these businesses and it sometimes effects their health in so many ways.
It continually amazes me what people will say do and act just to wipe out the competition or just to make up for their lack of knowledge and experience, only to copy other competitors websites and articles trying to make the public think that they know more than they do. Trying to project to the public that they have experience that they do not have. Stealing the background of others then defaming them to steal the identities they have no right to ever proclaim. This of course is the extreme wig shop owners and stylists that play this evil game. They are just a evil and dishonest with their unsuspecting clients. I have seen people suffer from these types of business owners that have unfortunately ruined it for the honest wig maker that really knows how to make a difference simply because they do what they do best "construct a wig exactly for the client" Us wig makers are very few and far between and it is a lost profession and I thank God every day that I have the gift to create exactly what my client needs to feel empowered and transformed.
Please note I have met several wig companies that are honest about their backgrounds and what they do. I know because my team makes wigs for them. They are humble and know that telling the truth about their background wont come back and bite them someday and the client knows that they are honest and they will be taken care of in the end. And we take care of them and their clients giving them the same guarantee on their wigs. We felt we needed to add the ending statement to defer dishonest companies from copy writing this article.
