Has anyone ever ordered the hair systems from Hair Direct? I have a hair system that I am wearing now that I purchased from a salon in my area called Advanced Techniques. Due to the price, I was looking for one that was not quite as expensive. If anyone has any other suggestions to purchase one, please let me know.

1895.00, got it in September and already shedding.

I am currently using HD and would give them a grade of B or C. On the up side I don't feel they have never lied to me about how long the wigs will last, like so many very expensive wig makers have. I have a very small head, therefore I need a custom piece. I chose lace with a poly perimeter in the back and sides. (the poly does not hold anything in place, but allows the unit to keep its shape and makes it easier to apply) I adhere it to my scalp and leave it 2-3 weeks.

The hair is supposedly Remy, but to be perfectly honest, they could tell me it is anything and I wouldn't know the difference. The hair seems fine and will last the short life of the wig. I wash and condition alot and have recently added Argon oil to my regime.

The reason they get a lower grade from me is that the "custom" part of the process is very subjective. I have ordered 3 rounds of 2 at a time units, and they have yet to get the cap size correct. In fact the last order was a repeat of the very first order, which had been given several changes since the first order. It was as though they never wrote down requested changes. Remember I now have 2 that are built wrong. I also find that they seem to have a hard time getting the cut correct as well. I am paying them to cut and style, and yet I have to pay a local beautician to fix it.

The wigs themselves last only 2-3 months. This is pretty standard for lace, and anyone who is being honest with you will give a lace wig about a 2 month life span. Part of that comes from how difficult it is to clean the glue each time. I find the long I can get the glue to adhere, the longer the unit lasts.

Also, I spray the interior with knot sealer before the first wearing and am going to start that with each subsequent redo.

I am currently looking to see if Advent hair can make me a custom piece with poly that holds in the back eliminating the glue. Those types of units have always lasted me about 4 - 6 months becausenI don't sleep in them.

The units from hair direct start shedding at about a month, although there is often shedding right out of the box. I try never to cut or thin more than I have to, since that will happen all by itself.

i would say if you like to have hair that looks nice all the time, I give HD an A because they have come up with a way for one to have new hair every coupke of months, which does take the stress out of wearing wigs.
