Hello!
I was wondering if any of you had a similar experience to mine. I had alopecia universalis for a good two years. A couple of months before I got pregnant the hair started to slowly come back. Then as I was pregnant i grew a full head of hear (and the hair also came back on other body pars, eyelashes and eyebrows are still working on it) My baby is now six months old and besides a small patch over the ear that never grew back i still have hair! (am still wearing my wig bc my hair is very short and my wig is very long and i am afraid if it falls out again I can not go from short to long in a day!).
Have any of you had a similar experience and did they keep their hair?? Would be interested in knowing..
THANK YOU!
Jojo

Dear Jojo
I was a little hesistant to reply to this as the reply does not build on my own experiences. (I am here because my son of 6 years has AA). However, one of my close friends has a sister who has experienced what you are describing. Unfortunately, after both her pregnancies, the hair fell out again. Personally, I think it is important to note, that apparently during pregnancy the body establishes some kind of balance that allows the hair to start growing again. That should be something that could be explained medically so that one could find that balance even when not pregnant. I truly hope that in your case the hair has gotten a lasting kickstart. Good luck and feel free to write me again if you would like me to ask for more information from my friend's sister.

Dear Alia
Thank your for the info! How long after her pregnancies did her hair start falling out again? I do hope my hair stays but am not getting my hope up.
Good luck with your son! It must be really hard to see your son suffer...I hope he gets all his hair back!

I had AA which went into remission with pregnancy 1 for 3 years. THen it came back and went back into remission for pregnancy 2. For only 6 month this time. Then I had very moderate AA after delivery on and off until suddenly I went AT then a few months later AU. That was last month. Not loving the AU! I think the immune balacing during pregnancy can be maintained from what i have heard, I think when you have AU though AA will be back at some point. Maybe many years from now. I am gearing up for baby 3 now and hoping that it kicks AU to the curb.
oh no! that does not sound good at all! on top of it I was just at my doctors and I still have the strange nails, some patches left etc...so she said I have to boos my immune system get my skin in order (have dermatitis) everything has to be okay so that nothing can trigger the AA again...I am totally in the dumps (we cant just keep having kids can we :-) )

Hi Jojo
I asked my friend about her sister. She said that her hair fell out again when she stopped breastfeeding app. 8 months after delivery. What a strange thing this is... I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

For me, baby 1 weaned at 13 months and it was 7 months later that AA returned. Baby 2, well, lets say we are having some trouble getting him to move on, and he is (eek) now almost 2.5 and I am still nursing him at night. I never ever thought this would be something i would do, but what can I say, he is really cute. I cant say no. Anyway, what is interesting is that I didnt get my cycle back until he was 23 months old due to all this nursing and 3 weeks later I went AT. So, I think the hormones definately mix things up for me.

This AA/AT/AU stuff is a nightmare. I cannot believe I am AU. I woke up again this morning suprised.

Life goes on though...
Hi there!i know this is old post. But is there any updates!! Thanks
