My daughter, Kait, has been wearing wigs for a few years now. She is living in London for 6 months and we went to visit her (fun!) and she told me that she has significant regrowth now and she was hoping to try a weave. I said I would do some research for her. I tries searching on here but found very few discussions about weaves. So, does anyone have any experiences to share or words of advice? Anyplace to recommend in Philadelphia or Boston? Thanks very much.

I agree. I won't even consider dying mine. I'm just too scared!

Go to a professional that you trust and get their opinion. In my experience, if something is not a good fit for you the stylist will be honest about it. Also an ok from the doctor would be a good idea as well. If I had significant regrowth this would definitely be something I would want to explore.

I dont think u have to talk to a dr about a "weave" im guessing from the way it sounds she wants a weave as in hair attached ive seen quick weaves a stylist will braid your hair and wrap your hair and then they glue thin wefts or sew wefts to your hair and then they leave your hair out to have a part. They look nice im sure if she found a good stylist she could get it nice i would probaly find a good ethnic stylist who specializes in weaves

I meant ask a doctor if, in their professional opinion, getting a weave will affect hair regrowth.

Yea i wonder? id be worried about the braiding pulling the hair

I'd be afraid of putting further stress on the hair that was regrowing. Maybe a partial wig until the hair is long enough for clip in extensions?

Well weaves are usually sewn on using weaving thread....there are different extention methods for growing hair. It depends on how much natural hair you have on your head. Also depends if you want to have weaving hair sewn in or glued. I personally enjoy wearing a wig...made with lace cause it helps my hair to breathe...would recommend www.luxurylaceforless.com if you wish to order high quality weaving hair for less. There is a fee...but they are worth it. www.indianhairompany.net is another good company...but not sure they would have texture you desire. Hope this helps! Good luck!
