I have searched the net like crazy, but really can't find anything on it. I know in alopecia areata the fall out usually spares the gray hair, but it seems that this disease seems to be attacking the pigment of my hair. The gray hairs fall out just the same as the pigmented hair. Has anyone else experienced this?

yes in a sense....
Oh...could you elaborate? I'm very curious.
well i have just noticed that the end like 3 inches of the hairs that fall out are all frail and gray not like the strong healthy hair below it, i supose the hair is just not getting the building blocks it needs to make a healthy hair so it just weakens untill it just falls out. idk just my thoughts.
I've always wondered if people with white hair are immune to AA.
yeah hair is hair, your body doesnt care what color it may be. =)
No, I think you are missing the point. My hair was dark brown before AA. No grays. Now, it seems AA is making my hair gray.
I have gray hairs falling out now with the other hairs. It grows in with color and gray and falls out the same way. This disease is so unpredictable. There seems to be no concrete answers on anything. If I get all my hair back for however long, I would be afraid to color my gray even though I've been coloring my hair most my life and nothing happened. I'm so afraid of taking a chance and it falls out again and I'll be blaming myself even though people say coloring your hair doesn't cause it. That's what is so disturbing about this disease, it's the unknown. I guess I'll be using my wigs and hats the rest of my life. They say once you have it, it can come back. I have refused to use any meds for this for I would probably freak out with the side effects and of what I am hearing, the meds don't really work and if they do, it's only while you are using it. How does anyone know when you use the meds and your hair grows, that it would grow anyway without the meds. I think the best medicine is keeping a good attitude and try not to stress over this too much and what ever will be will be.
