So I have been hat shopping for the cold weather that is flirting with us now. Last winter I ran into a lot of problems with knitted skull caps or beanies irritating my scalp-- I have allergies to some wools and other animal hair bends that are often found in sweaters and beanies. Since I’m determined to rock my hats, allergy or not I had to get creative and put a stocking cap on under the beanie—problem obverted! I have been shopping in Charming Charlie’s and some other sopts searching for other styles of hats, like fedoras, berets, derbys, and even the old style flapper hats. I am so disappointed that most of them are TOO BIG for my slim and sleek head, LOL! What’s a girl to do!!!! Does anyone else have this problem, and what is the work around please? Cold heads wanta know!?

I have the opposite problem!! My head is TOO BIG! A lot of the beanies are too small for my head. I don't like the way they look when they are tight so I try to find the oversized beanie, don't know what they are called. You might try to look in a children's section. I'm sorry you are having that issue. I'm going to have to start using the stocking cap idea so thank you! I wore a beanie all day yesterday, and by the end of the day my head was itching so bad. You might do a search online for petite hats or maybe start looking in stores that have petite sections.

Thanks sharing-- I'm gonna keep looking. Will share what I find. I did go into a fancy hat store last weekend that offered some hats with better fits, I just am not in the position to paid that kind of money for hats-- the cheapest one was (on sale even) was $49-- yikes!!! And the went up to $300 for the nicer styles.

It's like you're reading my mind. I live in Connecticut and although I wear wigs when I go out, I usually wear a beanie around the house. I have found that my head is super sensitive and anything that's not 100% cotton or even a tag will drive me mad. Women's beanies seem to be a little too snug and men's beanies are too big. I have tried ordering a few different hats online lately but I'm not in love with any one of them. I end up wearing a Buff but I wish I could find something with a bit more style. Let me know if you come across any gems.

Hey Emory, thanks for sharing! I will keep you posted on what I come up with.

Wear cotton "beanies" on your head, and then put on the hat. The cotton won't irritate, and it will hold the hat tighter.
