I tried a combination of alternative medicines- ayurveda and homeopathy with success in reversing my alopecia and vitiligo.

My story- For 10 years, I had alopecia and tried conventional medicine- cortisone, primarily. Later on, it was acupuncture, which worked for a while. However, once I ceased visiting my acupuncturist, due to the out-of-pocket expenses, the disorder resumed it's course.

Finally, I tried ayurveda ( a herb called Trichup)that I found on http://www.rejuvherbs.com/alopecia.html. I upped my regimen by taking B Complex
( mega doses), D-vitamins ( 2000 IU), and Fish Oil. I also balanced my hormones by taking a herbal formula. Viola! It seemed to work and I also got pregnant!

A year ago, I noticed some spots on my chest and neck. I was diagnosed with vitiligo, a cousin of alopecia, I have heard. I went back to my regime and also cut out gluten for 6 months. The ayurvedic remedy pigmento was a charm and I got back pigmentation in a rush on my exposed parts. The rest are filling in very nicely and I have had no new spots appearing on my body. I tried a herbs called Pigmento which had remarkably quick results http://www.rejuvherbs.com/vitiligo.html

Very interesting. Did your acupuncturist treat specifically for the hair loss. I have done acupuncture for pain in the past and it worked quite well.
Hi Lily,

Yep- did acupuncture for hair loss with some success. However, once I stopped the treatment, it resumed it's course.
In my case, balancing my hormones and getting on to ayurveda seemed to do the trick.
thanks for the reply - I am going to ask my OB/GYN doc to do a full hormone panel on my next visit.
I'm new to this site. I'm dealing with a lot of breakage and somewhat of a lot of hair loss. I'm looking for any kind of supplements, foods, oils, pretty much anything to get my hair to be thicker and grow faster. I'm very interested in the supplement you mentioned- the trichup capsules. They sound very cool, but I can't find a lot of reviews on them. Have you ever tried viviscal? I'm taking that right now and I like it.
Biotin, selinim (sp?) B vits, Evening Primrose Oil (doc Oz recommended),
Thanks! I'm trying all those except evening primrose oil. Need to get it though.
Trichup has credibility in the ayurvedic circle. I have one review here:

I live in USA. I bought Trichup Oil. My hair was falling because of chemotherapy. Then I started using this product and it has created wonder. After using this product for about 1 month I found that my Hair fall stopped. Now I am using Trichup once a week. The availability is some time big problem in USA. If someone knows more about its availability in USA then please please let me know.

I am sorry to be skeptical but this to be sounds like an advertisement for the aforementioned website.

Nope. Just spreading my conviction in ayurveda as it has helped me with my disorder. Here is a genuine article from a newspaper on the benefits of ayurveda for hair loss.
