So... my hair held out for a while, 4 months, and now the alopecia seems to be running riot. I have about 7 patches big and small. The thing is my head in places is so sensitive to pressure.... feels really un-natural. Has anyone experienced this.....?

I keep racking my brains as to why it suddenly got worse.... i had been stressing a bit more i suppose. But so many of you guys dont attribute it to stress ! It has to be a factor in my case, i now seem perpetually stressed !

Hope you're all doing ok ....

before I lose hair the area in which is going to fall out gets very sensitive as if I had it tied up in a very tight pony tail all day.Even afterward s sometimes I get that same sensation.I don't think stress is the cause but I do think it don't help for a lot of people, there's a lot of everyday things in our day to day life that for many of us seem to make our alopecia worse.
Hi Helena,

Thanks for the reply. Would you say that you are still stressed nowdays ?

Thanks,
M
Hi Helena,

Im sure you know your body but i find it hard to believe when people say they are fine with being suddenly completely bald. It must rank up there with one of the biggest things to deal with. Our society projects pictures of hair and beauty all day long. I just cant believe people suddenly lose all hair and think oh well thats that. It must have a huge impact whether it be sub consciously or consciously.

Sorry, i dont mean to lecture and im sure you have a way better idea of whats happening with you than i do ;-) i just think its weird when people say 'oh i lost all my hair... and its fine'....Its a huge thing and the psychosomatics of alopecia are greatly underestimated.

Thanks
M
Hey Mark,

Inflammation and tenderness is just a regular part of having alopecia. My head has been in one state of irritation or inflammation or tenderness or another since I was 4 years old -- and while you never enjoy the feeling, at some point you become used to it. Believe it or not, a lot of times taking plain old Motrin or aspirin does a lot to relieve the pressure, pain, etc. I tend to pay more attention to it as my AA becomes active, because it serves as a warning to me of what's about to happen and I can adjust accordingly.

We talk about this a lot in a lot of the other blogs and forum posts -- stress is a huge trigger for a lot of us here in Alopecia World. Whether or not it is good stress or bad stress, we must all work very hard to minimize stress and emotional trauma in our lives -- it certainly doesn't help our AA, but it can significantly affect how long it takes our AA to go into remission as well.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!!!
Hey thanks for the reply. Do you think stress was a trigger in your case as well ? Have you ever had remission ? In my case i think i was well stressed (in fact chronically stressed) and my body just hasnt learnt how to turn off. I now watch how my body reacts and to be honest its saturday, it should have been a clam day but i feel tension.

I just think its quite interesting. I know if i went travelling now with a few mates (as i did in my early 20's) it would come back as all my anxieties would eventually dissipate. Unfortunately im 30 and have a career.
