I recall my daughter having headaches and scalp irritation while she was losing her hair. I think the stress and starting to wear wigs can cause this. My daughter has told me after she got use to wear the wigs, it stopped. Also if your wig is too tight or heavy you might be getting headaches. I also remember my daughter who loved to shop saying "nothing looked nice anymore". As time went on and she began accepting Alopecia and finding all the tricks of the trade on applying cosmetics she began shopping again and taking an interest in cloths and makeup. My daughter is 27 so you are close in age. I try to remember what Michael J Fox said, " Happiness comes in proportion to acceptance". Nothing could be more true. Can you tell me more about your wig? Is it lace front, mono top, etc. I maybe able to give you some additional insight into wig construction that does not look like a wig.
I did have headaches and sever itchiness when I first started wearing my wig. I would also take Benadryl for the itching but it didn't help my headaches.
I hate that you have to deal with this at 29 when you are planning your wedding! Maybe your hair will make a reappearance after the stress of the wedding!
I know how hard it is to look in the mirror. I feel that way sometimes also. It took me quite some time to get to a good place with losing all of my hair.
I will keep you in my prayers!! Hugs to you! I'm sure you look beautiful and will be a stunning bride!
There is an amazing synthetic wig that is feather light by Rachel Walsh, it is all hand tied and a very nice length It is called "Upstage". I helped a women that was suffering from some of the same issues you were. This wig looks amazing for those starting out, It had a mono top and truly looked like the hair was growing out of your head. I truly believe that a light density human hair wig, mono top all hand tied is the way to go for the future. I also believe that using a product called Scalp protector from Hair Direct is helpful. My daughter swears by it. Then she wears a light weight cap that give the wig more security. I hope this helps and welcome you to contact me if you need any assistance in finding the right wig for you. I know this group has heard from me regarding how well adjusted my daughter is and how she has moved forward and I believe it has to do with a wig that she loves and other comment on how great her hair looks. They do not even know. Let me help in anyway I can. My goal for joining this group is to share those secrets about wigs that seem very hard to find when you walk into a salon.
Hello Dianna, the bang is a long side bang. The lace front does NOT show. If you feel comfortable I can try to figure out how to send you a picture of the lady I helped. Lace fronts are not obvious if constructed correctly and cut back properly. Custom wigs typically have a lace front and they are cut or bent back and the color of the lace is important. That wig runs about $400. Name Brand Wigs is where the young lady got that wig. However, since that time and my trip to China and relationship with a amazing factory I now can help women fine the best human hair wigs. These are custom wigs that need your exact size head, not just the medium, small etc. The color can be selected and the length exact. This is why I have become so passionate about helping other women find EXACTLY what fits them and feels like their own hair. I want for other women what I have found for my daughter. My email is georged5050@gmail.com
If you would like to consider working with me to find the best I am here. My contact is not the $2000 wig it is much less and we are getting even better quality then what is in the salons. All my best and I am here for you. Helping others helps me to accept my daughters alopecia, strange as it might seem.. Lisa
I too have TERRIBLE headaches- (mine are migraines)
& I have had them most of my life (they started at age 12 )...I have found the sumatriptan meds work well for me: (Imitrex, maxalt) & I use Imitrex injectables when the migraines are past the point of oral meds working.
I too am bald and wear wigs all the time! (I have had AU for approx 3 years now
& I agree, it gets tough! Any history of headaches prior to hairloss? could be stress induced; could be that stress triggered an already underlying headache condition (i.e., cluster, migraines...
Are they debilitating? If so think about talking to your dr about Imitrex (it saved my life!
I am sorry you are feeling so badly about yourself :(
Do you exercise? I find that helps through the mental, emotional and physical pain.... good luck to you
