I'm a mother of 6 wonderful children 2 boys 4 girls! I was born in and grew up in Utah. I have alopecia on my legs but what girl wouldn't want hairless legs! Anyway my youngest has Alopcia Universalias she lost her hair at 18 months and is now 2 years old, she gets a few hair growths from time to time but it never stays, when she was a baby she had hair and she started loosing it i had just barely been able to put a small ponytail on the top of her head, a few months later i noticed her hair was getting less and less, when i finaly got to the point i figured out that she wasn't growing it back she had 3 eyelashes left while waiting for her doctor to figure out what she had they all fell out, She is a beautiful little girl and i love her very much! I feel horrible for her and glad she is still to young to notice she is different then other little girls. She actually diagnosed a little over a month ago by a dermatologist, she said it was alopecia universalis totalis she has no hair at all anywhere, Well except the little that comes and goes, I'm hoping she grows out of it as they said she might but if she doesn't i hope i can help her accept and make the best of it even though it will be very hard i am sure

Hi, My daughter developed this as a teenager and she is doing well in college. She cheered in highschool with it, dates, and has plenty of friends. The love and support that she has at home will help your daughter. There are mom's of young children on this site that can help you. Some of the way that your daughter copes with this is going to be a reflection of how you deal with it. You need to be strong and supportive of her. I know it will break your heart because anything that hurts our kids hurts us more. Let me know if I can help. Karen

thank you i will should the time come
