I recently had my follow up appointment with my derm and she had asked me to get some blood tests done prior to the appointment and while all the results came back fine she said I had high cholesterol.
I had no idea I had high cholesterol but she said there may be a link to it and alopecia areata, this was the first I had heard of it. She said she had had 3 patients with similar high cholesterol who she had treated and 2 of them had regrowth after the cholesterol was under control.
She has prescribed me a statin to try and lower the cholesterol hoping this may help, I have a follow-up appointment in 7 weeks.
Has anyone else been told the same? or has high cholesterol and noticed any improvement in the AA once on medication?
