As I've mentioned before, I'm not new to wigs and alopecia. I've been wearing wigs since I was ten, and I'll be 55 this year. A long, LONG time with my constant companion. I've been trying to update my look, and I've been watching YouTube videos, and I see these YouTube gurus who keep switching wigs like they're changing shoes. I gues because it's because they have some hair, but I have seen two women who are alopecians and one who lost her hair in a childhood accident.

Are there any of you out there who wear wigs and switch up the styles every now and then? I've spent my whole (well, most of it) life trying to hide my alopecia and "pass" as somebody who has hair so that I wouldn't be called a freak. (This is something my mother cautioned me against, and as a 10 year old, that was the most terrifying thing.) What do you do about work? Have you ever had HR tell you that changing hairstyles so rapidly is causing too much of a distraction?

That's it, I guess. Thinking outloud on the keyboard.

I switch mine all the time.  There will be weeks at work where I will wear five very different wigs.  I chose this route to avoid the stress of worrying about mishaps and wondering how to tell people.  It makes others more comfortable about talking about it and that makes me more at ease.

I am self-employed and work from home, but I switch my wigs as I feel like it.  I have a fairly large collection of wigs, so I wear different wigs depending on what I am doing that day, or how I feel on a particular day.  The key is to be confident and even enjoy wearing wigs.  Even as a man, I am able to have hair that I could not have even when I had a full head of hair.

Amy I always like the wigs you wear.  Can you share some of the synthetic wigs you like?
