Hi All,
I know a fair bit of this has already been discussed before, but I was hoping to get your opinion on one particular aspect of dermal eyebrow tattoos. How real do they look? I'm thinking of getting them done and have been trawling the net looking at pictures, and the pictures that I see look like the brush strokes that make up the tattoo are not very fine. Is this how it is for all eyebrow tattoos, or am I just looking at the wrong sites? And if you have had them done, would you recommend it? As a guy, I feel that noticeably fake eyebrows may not be the best look.
Thanks everyone,
Sam

I had the 'real' tattoo brows done some time ago. Mine ran into the skin around the brow area then dimmed too much or faded. I finally found temporary tattoo eyebrows and I can say without a doubt they are SENSATIONAL! Try them yourself. They're easy to put on and take off and last 3-4 days. You can shower and swim in them and I do. I wear them to the gym and sweat! AND they're cheap! http://www.tattoobrows.com

Hello there, I am in the Uk but I can give you any advice you may need.

I work with a fair few alopicia sufferers and I have also helped out with a large number of charity events.

Because of my job I have seen and carried out lots of brows so I can help you with any questions you may have. Many people know me, and I do give a lot of my time to this, so I have no commercial gain, for a start I am in the UK.

But please if you have any, ( and I mean any) questions I can 100% help.

Hi Heidi,

Thanks a lot, that's great! My main question is how would eyebrow tattoo's look on a guy? I think they look very good on women, but that may be because women often shape and do their eyebrows anyway. If I got them done, I'm a little worried that it may look too much like makeup. The person who would do mine (in Sydney and well respected in eyebrow tattoo's) aims to do hair strokes and put them on in a light colour. I guess it's a little hard to say how they would look, but any thoughts you may have would be great.

Thanks a lot,

sam
Sam -

I understand wanting to have the face you had and feeling complete, but I wouldn't do it if I were you. It can only look fake.

I say, just distract attention to something else. Find out what colors of clothing look best with your complexion so you look your best at all times ( not drained. not washed out, not looking like your clothes are wearing you instead of you wearing them); get fashionable eyeglass frames even if you don't need glasses. Just get clear lenses or wear your sun glasses often. Are you into accessories like interesting masculine belts? hats?

Like I say to women: pay attention to your skin, your teeth, your smile, your manicure..all the things that you have control over and that will really stand out if you don't take care of them. Because when those things that you can control are well-maintained, people are attracted to those nice features and eyebrows don't even cross their radar.

I just got a kit from stampmefabulous.com. The inks wash off. I have no idea how it's going to look or ease of application etc. It's an experiment. But, they have guy patterns for brows. If they want an outrageous price for sending to your country, ( some companies do) I can do what I've done for others across the globe and you can use paypal to reimburse me if I send you something. I've done that for women who can't get good and inexpensive wig tapes in their countries.

Thanks Thea that is good advice. And thanks also for the offer of buying things over there for me. I like the idea of glasses and am looking into that as well.

I went in and had an initial consultation and was pretty impressed with what the doc drew on. Even though it was a bad colour and not drawn on well, it looked okay. But I understand your warning that it will look fake no matter what. My thought is that it may look better than nothing. But I will take it alowly and get peoples opinions before i jump in. I guess it's not something you can get rid of easily!

Thanks again

Sam
Hey Sam,

I think I know what you mean about the tattooing of eyebrows... now that I have lost all of the hair over my tattooing, I find there is no dimension to the eyebrow. I am not sure how you should proceed. I too am looking to have my eyebrows redone and I am not sure what direction to go in (to have them refilled or to have the hair strokes). I have been considering buying the hair eyebrows just to see what they might be like gluing on every day but I cannot see myself doing this for long... the gluing thing that is. You may want to try the hair eyebrows just to see how you look. Another thing is to use, believe it or not, because I do and it works well is ....to use fine magic markers (I use the Pental brand in dark brown followed by dark grey) to simulate hair strokes over my tattoos. I would advise you first to get an eyebrow stencil set and play with the outline of where you want to position them and to what thickness you want the eyebrows to be, using an eyebrow pencil... this may help you decide if you have picked the right person to permanently place your eyebrows since you will have an idea beforehand as to your own preference. I had my eyebrows done by the person considered to be the "best" in my area... I paid a small fortune, and now that I have lost my brows, I noticed that she did not fill-in a segment of my right brow, and I have to try and match the tattooed left one... sometimes I think I have it, but at second glance it's a bit freakish! By using the magic markers (or a more modern term, permanent markers) I can wipe them away when in such a predicament. Possibly, that is why I recommend playing first before anything is permanent.

If you go for the tattooing, please start with whatever is the lightest and maybe add some brown... From what I have seen, and in my own experience, the dark brown fades to red and the black to a deep navy blue.

Hope it works well... Meg
We (I) dont really work like others, even some of the shapes. Regarding colours that fade down to red this is because the wrong process has been used, people come and say their artist has been doing this for 20 years, it does not really matter. My opinion that could be longer to pick up bad habits. Pigments and techniques are unique. Regarding blue/black that's a pressure and pigment issue. Mens brows are harder to carry out and need a more random look, rather than the ultra neat for women.

As I am in the UK I am only giving you advice, an eyebrow tattoo can look excellent if done correctly but I am afraid many have not seen this.

hi Sam,

i have the same issue here, i am too confused about tattoing the eyebrowing and afraid it may look like makeup. i read about the permanent makeup and the pic shows it have dimensions. do u have any idea about this ? please inform me about ur progress with whatever u have done for solving the missing eyebrow issue.
Hi,

I have tattooed brows, and like them very much. They're fairly light-colored, and I use a little powder color on them to bring them out. I feel good about them.

BUT, I'm a woman, and I know the issue is different for you guys. So, if you haven't seen them, check out Jeffrey's photos of his brows that he posted recently. I think this should take you there:

Hi Wael,
I actually haven't gone ahead with getting the eyebrow tattoo's done. I just didn't feel confident enough that I would like the look, so I decided against it. I think I'd need to see some close up in person to get a good idea and decide once and for all to get them done. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity yet!

But I must say I feel better about no eyebrows now. When I first asked the above question I had only just lost my eyebrows. Now, after 6 months or so, it doesn't seem as bad. I'd like them back, but we'll just have to see if they actually do.

Good luck! If you could let me know if you get them done and if you like them that would be great.

Cheers
