How to protect the hair I have from breakage under a wig

I have FPB and have started wearing wigs. What is the take on wig caps. I have been using a nylon stocking cap but am worried about breakage the my existing hair underneath as I would like to retain it if I can. Should I wear a satin bonnet. What should I do. If I have been wearing my wig for a while I can feel it pulling on my hairline hair.

Also the wig is Erica by amore and has a lace kind of part
