I'm a relative newbie- diagnosed 8 months ago with a relatively small patch, but have been loosing a lot more hair the last couple of months. I've been getting injections since the beginnig, with some regrowth happening in the initial patch, but no regrowth on the newer patches. My doc said injections are all I can be doing to help. Unhappy with that answer, I went to a naturopathic dermatologist. She suggested vit D (I was low), a hefty dose of fish oil to help with scalp inflamation, a supplement intended to rebalance the immune system ($$$!) and a B complex to help with stress. She did forewarn me that I'd probably just have to let alopecia run its course. All I can see happening from her suggestions is back and neck acne from the fish oil (NOT pretty when you're loosing the ability to hide that nonsense with hair!). I've read a couple of posts that mention medication in addition to the injections, and I'm curious to hear what the heck those are? Also, what about Rogaine? I see some are using that as well. I picked up a box in the store the other day, but it very clearly said it is only for thinning hair, and not to use for patchy baldness. THANK YOU for any information- this is a most ridiculous and depressing condition!! My selfish self keeps wishing my dog had it and not me. :-P

It is so confusing. Right now there is no cure but treatments that help some people some of the time.Go on the NAAF website and review your options. All treatments have side effects that is why alot of people give up on it after a while and wear wigs or embrace going bald. We are all still hoping for a cure.
I tried Rogaine for men (higher dosage recommended by my doctor. Several months and several hundred dollars later and no difference.
