I have peach fuzz - what does this mean?
Hi all,
I have white hairs growing on my head and I am totally puzzled as to what this is because I also have hair growing on my face. this is very strange as I have had au for 3 years now! has this happened to anyone else before?

After I had AU the body hair grew back, a bit more sparsely, but the head hair stayed white and fuzzy, soft...and has been that way for about 12 years. I hear it may stay this way if one is older and has had AU or AT for a long time. So, I have given in and accepted the fact....and am currently joking that I want to be viewed and buried in an Egyptian pharoah's crown to fool the mourners and archaeologists.
Yes, face has fine, soft hair just like any person. White, barely visible.
I am glad there is no beard...wouldn't want to compete with my handsome male friends!

hmmm, interesting! i have only had au for three years though and it started when i was 30. ???? who knows!

For the last three years I've been getting regrowth and it started with hair that resembled peach fuzz. This was after having no hair on my head for over 15 years. Also after about 15 years, I went to see a dermatologist to see what insight he could offer to my peach fuzz. After speaking with him for a little while he told me I knew more about alopecia than he did and we both know that anything could happen. At the moment I'd say I have approximately 60 to 75% of my hair back (on my head anyways). The spots seem to move around slightly, large areas fill in but then leave large areas without hair, the same old unpredictable story. It may come back, it may not, it may just keep annoying me as it is no one knows. I understand it's exciting to think your hair could return but you've done it this long and just try to remember that what ever happens you are still you, with or without hair. Keep us posted and keep your chin up! :)

wow carol! i want to see pics! my gut feeling is that this might be the beginning of hair regrowth, but i am totally ok if it is not. i have come to accept being bald and actually think it is sort of fun to buy new wigs! :)

You can view the progress of my growth in a video I put together on alopecia. I don't know about your rash but I got a rash after my hernia operation that's turned into psoriosis or something of the sort then hair started to grow. It's the same idea as some of the meds they have out there for alopecia that irritate the skin to make hair grow. My rash is gone now except for a small portion on my leg. You may want to get that rash looked at though if it doesn't go away. ;)

yes- I get it almost evey summer (for some reason). I remember getting all excited the first time but it never led to any real growth (sorry). I have had au for over 20+ years. I too have some very fine facial hair but nothing else.-Go figure. I have heard however that when someone's hair does grow back-it comes in initially like baby fine white hair. Fingers crossed for you!!!! Lisa
