Hi! I have had Alopecia Areata since the age of 3 but have been losing a lot of my hair recently. My dermatologist has referred me to another doctor that does immunotherapy. I have heard that this is a really aggressive treatment and I wanted to know if anyone has had experience or luck with it. Thanks in advance for taking the time to share! :)

I am not sure what this is. Is it supressing the immune system?
Hi Negin, my daughter turned 6 when she started it and now 2.5 yrs since regrowth she still has all of her hair back for the most part. It is even long now. She has 3 stubborn small spots that have not completely filled in and still no eye lashes. Her finger nails have even healed. The treatment is aggressive and can be uncomfortable because of the reaction which is the rash. I have met a few people who tried it and either never got a reaction or could not tolerate the side effects and stopped. The process is as follows: 1st you do a skin test on you forearm ( sensitizing the arm is the term) to determine if your body will respond. If you get a rash within 10 days there is chance you could see results. Next, you test a spot on your scalp and the rash should appear in a few hers. It looks like a bad burn and can swollen an itchy. That goes away in about 2 days. We did small areas and rotated around the head and worked our way up to larger areas and more then one day a week. 6 months later my daughters hair started to grow. It takes patience because it can be uncomfortable and your not going to see regrowth immediately. You treat the scalp only and the squaric acid is support to target your entire immune system. Sam's body hair returned, her nails improved and she has some eyebrows. She gets lashes but they don't stay. My daughter put up with it and never asked to stop. I would never make her do anything to her body she was not comfortable with. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Good luck with your decsion. Cindy
