As far as I know it's on clinical trial... Anyway I would like to avoid pills, I would put on topical medications olny.

Give Sulfasalazine a try.  I have heard people have had results using it.  It has to be taken orally, but it seems to have very little side effects.

Hi everyone, I'm back to share my results with Clobesol! I had my hair back, not visibile yet, cause they are very very thin, short and white, and the yellow dots disappeared! Macroscopically, the results are very poor, but my doctor says it's a wonderful result, he didn't thought the results would be so evident after only 3 months. Now I'm using Aloxidil since 14 May to thicken these little hair. Since May, I'v only seen my hair fall out, but I'm positive it will work as well as Clobesol. For the first time since months, I feel very optimistic and I trust the doctor. 

I will update this post in 3-4 months to share the future results.

I was newly diagnosed with alopecia areata which expanded in a month from a quarter-sized area to nearly my entire crown! I *thought* I'd be ok just accepting the hair loss, but the monk look was rather disturbing so my dermatologist suggested 2 cycles of 2 weeks topical clobetasol propionate, (2x day, no occlusion) followed by 2 wks rest. I didn't not expect much, especially after the 1st treatment cycle. After the 2nd cycle, I had very good results (see photos before CP, after 2 cycles of CP). Of course the AA could have spontaneously resolved but I thought I'd share my experience.

clobetasol is usually prescribed first, and that's because it has had good results for a lot of patients. Those people generally don't find themselves on this forum :)

in my son's first episode of alopecia we didn't really get on it until the spots were 2" or larger, very well established. clobetasol did nothing. fast forward a couple of years, a few months of narrowband UVB knocked him into remission for 6 months or so. we started catching the new outbreak very early, 1/4" spots or less. began treating twice daily with clobetasol. The pattern seems to be a month of clobetasol, and it will stop expanding. a month after that and we start seeing hair growing in the spot, and a month after that it's covered. I apply it for a month, then rest for a month, then back on. 

Like I said, most people here are here because they haven't responded to the first level of treatment. but it CAN work. not a permanent fix of course, but take what you can get!

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for your replies.
I'm here to bring you up to speed on my situation. After Clobesol, I've used Aloxidil until November, when I replaced it with Rogain because I developed an allergic reaction to the propylene glycol contained in Aloxidil. So I've been using Rogain since November and I've had almost all my hair back. I'm really happy for the outcome, I was so skeptical... But also, I think that it will start again when I stop the treatment (May, 2017). Anyway, right now I'm trying to enjoy my current regained hair. I will update this post next summer to tell you how is going.

Hello everyone!

I suffer from hair loss for more than 10 years. The hair loss started 3 months after a traumatic event in my life. I have done a lot of topical treatment (including minoxidil for 2 months), but the hair loss continued (in the case of minoxidil hair loss stopped only for a short period of time, and resumed when i finished the treatment). 

The hair strands which are falling have a big round sebum bulb, and the roots seem weaker and weaker as the time passes. I have lost a lot of hair density, and I couldnt find an answer to my problem in my country, Romania.

So, last year I decided to go to Turkey (Acibadem Hospital, in Istanbul), to have a biopsy done.

The result of the biopsy is: ”Alopecia areata incognita” (Diffuse alopecia areata), and the turkish doctor recommended one round of steroid injections, which I have done last year, in May 2016, in the hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. After that, the doctor recommended to start Dermovate - a topical steroid lotion, which I have done for 2 months. Unfortunately, the hair loss continued and I stopped the steroid treatment.

In Romania, all the doctors I have been to deny the possibility of me having Alopecia Areata Incognita, and say that my problem is due to lack of vitamins. So, for the last period of time, I have taken a lot of vitamins (Biotin, Iron, Vitamin D), but with no positive results regarding my hair loss.

Also, last year I have tried 2 PRP injection, between months october and november, so not in the same time with topical steroid lotion.

My hair loss continues and there is no sign of solid regrowth and this thing upsets me a lot (I also developed problems with sleeping due to the hair loss stress).

What is your oppinion regarding my case?

Should I begin a treatment with clobetasol for 3-4 months and than try Minoxidil, like MacbethNellaBebbia did?
