Hi all... I was hoping for some ideas of what is going on with my hair and scalp. I examine the hair that falls out and most of them have a white jagged crusty sheath near the bulb. I can sometimes slide it off with my fingernails. I also have tiny white balls of this hard "gunk" in my hair and near my scalp. I don't know what this is but I think it's contributing to my hair loss or it's related to the hair loss because I have never had this white stuff in my hair before the scalp pain and shedding. I know it's not dandruff because they are tiny white balls and the sheath near the root is around the hair like a casing where it came from the scalp.. Thanks for any input!

I used to have this and just attributed it to tiny sweat balls in the pores. No biggy.
Thanks! I didn't know if this was contributing to the pain... I never had this white stuff in my hair and maybe it's stress related since my whole body is out of sorts from the stress of all this? I appreciate your help~!
Thank you Susan! I just read the posts on that website and it is quite interesting. My derm prescribed me 2% ketoconazole shampoo for this and I am scared to use it. Have you ever tried this shampoo in your past?
