Hey everyone!

So I have AA and just donated my hair last Tuesday (about 8inches) and have a short new hair style! Since I have gotten it cut, however, my whole scalp has been SOO itchy with a burning sensation! I was wondering if I could be allergic to a chemical in a product that the salon was using, or if the itchiness is a sign of something else. It usually becomes itchy when I'm losing hair- which worries me. I had a panic attack over the weekend. It burned in the shower. :x

Does anyone suggest any brands of shampoo that could cool down this problem? I found a bottle that claims to help the symptoms, but it is 18 dollars.

Thank you!!

Get a shampoo with tea tree oil in it. It should calm the burning. I hate to say, that itchy, burning is usually a tell-tale sign hair is about to go. That's how it was for me. Tea Tree Oil shampoo will help.

I will look into that, thank you!! I just bought a cheap shampoo that is apparently organic and contains a number of tea leaf oils- so far that is a bit more soothing. I think the salon products have harsh chemicals in them, but I could be wrong. I will call the salon soon and ask about their shampoo and conditioner.

Hi, I do get the itchy scalp when I'm losing, I think I notice it as I'm actually losing tho,not for a time before hand, but thats just me. One thing I might suggest is dandruff shampoo, I use a shampoo for color treated hair and volume most of the time but about once every week or two I'll use the dandruff shampoo, it really seem to help cut down the irritation. Hope that helps.
