Hi there,

I'm wondering if anybody on this forum has had any experience with Joli Cameleon's Dancer wig? Looks like a great base/cap design and beautiful hair. I currently have a Follea Aero2 that needs to be semi-retired so was looking at getting a Joli Dancer, both for the security of the base and because it's slightly less expensive than Follea. But I'm just not sure I'm ready to make the leap! Such a big/emotional/expensive decision. Does anybody have any input having work either a Joli dancer or a Follea and could compare them?

Thanks so much!

Please and love!

Hello there, take the time to read about my daughter and how I learned to help others with human hair wigs. Please look under the topic of trip to China. There is so much to know about a wig, even high quality brand name ones before you purchase. My trip to Qingdao, China for the purpose of finding the best hair for my daughter has been a life changing experience.

If you should have any questions about hair, cap or density or repair to existing wigs I am here for you. It makes me feel good to help others and not make the many mistakes I made along the way. I am very fortunate to have found a source for her and I might add an honest source. All my best. Lisa

FOLLEA!! Stick with Follea.

Check out www.alopeciahairsolution.com if you live in the Chicagoland area.

yes, I have and can say I am SO DISAPPOINTED!! I have been through 3 in the past year - and not because I chose to buy them....but had to get them replaced. That is a lot of money to pay to have to keep getting them replaced!!

 * the material in the inside split.

* the lace front started to fray, as someone else had mentioned.

* the hair started to knot and tangle, almost like it had been teased with a comb, and could not be undone. I used ALL the products they suggested (sold me) and was SUPER careful washing it every other week. It ultimately became a ball of knotted hair that would no longer lay flat. Awful.

I have one now that has a HUGE bald spot on the top. Hair is all over my house from it falling out over the past 2 months. Yes, 2 MONTHS!!!!! I have lived through hair loss on and off for over 30 years. The last thing I EVER wanted to experience was "wig alopecia".

II will say, when I first got it I LOVED IT! The hair was absolutely gorgeous!!! I walked out of the salon feeling like my old self again. It was shiny, styled and soooo natural looking. But that didn't last long. This was a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a wig that I was able to wear comfortably for two months. Buyer beware!!!!!

Hello Marie.  I am Michael, Founder of Joli Cameleon.  I apologize that your post has not come to my notice before now. Experiencing the problems you describe and with multiple pieces is very troubling to me.  I do not know who your selected studio is, but we would be pleased to work with them to better understand what is going on and to help you with a product that fits your needs.  We fully support our independent studio network, including providing a comprehensive maintenance service.   However, please remember your Joli Dancer™ is not unbreakable.  It is an advanced design, all hand-tied, thin and very lightweight, French top, lace front, full head, human hair cranial prosthesis.  At Joli Caméléon™ we call it a “hair creation”.  Each one is created by hand.   If you have not spent time with them already, your Studio Consultant can demonstrate how to correctly put on and take off your Joli Dancer.  There is also a YouTube video of Franchesca doing that and I can send you the link.  That is when damage can occur if not done correctly.  Always follow the advice of your Professional Studio Consultant, including the need for regular maintenance, especially if wearing your hair during regular high-energy activity.  Perspiration has a heavy salt content, and there are few things worse for your hair than a buildup of salt and residue.  Also, do not use oil based grooming products, or let any slick products near the roots of your hair.  Your hair is all hand-sewn and individually knotted.  If you get oil or slick conditioners in the knotted area, it can loosen the knots and cause premature wear.  Always use gentle shampoos and conditioners, without parabens and sulphates.  Do not use volumizing shampoos.  VERY IMPORTANT:  we have tested many products from other companies and believe that our specially sourced US made silicone, that makes your Joli Dancer™ perform better than anything else available, needs to be kept clean and free from sweat and creams to keep performing at its best.   This is easy to do.  Just use a warm, very slightly soapy washcloth and wipe down the silicone areas, remove the soap and dry them with a paper towel.  We recommend at least twice a day, or as needed.  Do not let anyone other than a Joli Caméléon™ certified hair professional color your Joli Dancer.  Chemicals in hair dyes and peroxide can damage it.  I cannot explain your experience to date, but I am willing to help if we can.  In testing the latest generation of Joli Dancer before launch, we had Franchesca dance and teach hot yoga in hers for a year and shampoo it more than 250 times.  It held up well.  But everyone’s own experience is of course what counts. Thank you for your comments.  Best.  Michael.

Hi Kat.

I am Michael, Founder of Joli Cameleon.  One of our many happy Joli Dancer hair creation wearers, sent me the link to this thread.  They told me they will also respond to you directly, because they feel strongly about the positive life change that wearing their Joli Dancer has brought them.  I apologize that your question has not come to my notice before now.  But, after reading the responses you received, I felt compelled to respond personally, albeit late.

I am sure that you and most all of Alopecia World’s readers post because they are seeking informed and independent responses to genuine questions and concerns.  But sometimes replies may come from readers who sell alternative products and may or may not have an agenda of their own.  Your question should be treated with the respect that it deserves and I want to make sure it is.  The one response from a Joli Dancer wearer who outlines problems with multiple pieces is troubling to me.  I do not know who the studio is who sold her Joli Dancer to her, but we are certainly unfamiliar with the case as described.  We fully support our independent studio network in resolving any problems that may occur with our products, including a comprehensive maintenance service.  I will respond to that post separately to see if we can help her.  Meanwhile, I will attempt to answer why I created the Joli Dancer™.  It was to meet a need communicated to me by many younger, or more active Alopecians, in case it may help you and others in your search for something that works for you personally.

Most Alopecians, when they first try on the Joli Dancer, tell us it does not feel like any other wig they have worn before.  The Joli Dancer is extremely light, all hand tied and the specially sourced US-made silicone grips very effectively.  The French top hides the knots and looks like hair growing from a natural scalp.  The lace front allows for a natural hairline.  The design of the Joli Dancer allows for updo’s and ponytails and features beautiful European human hair.  You can wear your Joli Dancer during high-energy activity, such as dancing, martial arts and working out.  We have professional dancers, like Franchesca – featured on our website - wearing their Joli Dancer during performances and on camera during music videos.   If you wish to try on a Joli Dancer fitting cap for yourself, try the 30-minute challenge and, as you become used to this new sensation, we think you will be surprised by how comfortable, light and secure it feels on you.

Please remember the Joli Dancer is not unbreakable.  It is an advanced design, all hand-tied, thin and very lightweight, French top, lace front, full head, human hair cranial prosthesis.  At Joli Caméléon™ we call it a “hair creation”.  Each one is created by hand.  Always follow the advice of your Professional Studio Consultant.  We do also make a close wefted, lined, machine back model, an alternative design, called the Joli Caresse, that is closer to more traditional Alopecia wig design.  Machine-wefting is heavier, but may be stronger in the long-term than a lightweight all hand-tied design.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your interest in Joli Cameleon.  Please reach out to me if I can help further. Our mantra: Whatever the world throws at you #AdaptBeautifully. Best. Michael.
