I was diagnosed with AA in June, but my hair has a really wierd pattern of falling out! It started out when I got a sunburn on my scalp and then BOOM! The next day, I had a dime-sized spot on the top of my head. I kept getting these spots until I had a big stripe of baldness down the center of my head!! The doctor told me the sunburn could have triggered the AA to show itself, because I began to lose my eyelashes and eyebrow too. I had that big bald stride for a month or so, and then it slowly began to grow back. Then a few days ago, I noticed a couple bald spots on the side of my head. My eyelashes and eyebrows and bald stripe have grown in a lot, but the hair there is very thin. Is it normal for
a) AA to "go away" for a little while and then randomly come back?
and
b) the hair to grow back thinner and paler than the rest of my hair?

I think this condition is so random. Part of the frustration is how unpredictable this is.
