Hello, I am 31 years old and was recently diagnosed with Alopecia Aerata. I found a bald spot on my scalp (about the size of a silver dollar) and my Dermatologist immediately diagnosed it as AA and we immediately began injections and a foam regime 2x a day.
I am completely overwhelmed and have no idea what to expect! I left the Dr's office and thought of all the questions to ask on my way home (of course). I called her this morning, but she isn't in the office until tomorrow.
Anyway, I'm just wondering what to expect. I did a lot of research online but it seems like everyone has different experiences - is this true? Should I buy a scarf or something to have just in case? Do you literally wake-up one day with more bald spots on the top of your head?
I'm sorry if this is spastic and not making any sense, I'm just trying to figure *something* out and have some tangible information!
Thank you!
Katie

AA is not predictable at all. You might just get one spot, you might lose a lot more hair. Everyone is different and every TIME is different.
My first time I lost everything - head and body. Then it came back. The second time I lost 4 spots on my head and I think I'm up to 5 spots on my forearms. Mine seem to form all at once. I never seem to notice the loss of hair until I find a spot.
I'm not sure I would bother with the foam, but that's just me. I've only had the injections once and I saw regrowth in that area quite fast after that.
I wish you the best of luck and hopefully you won't get anything else!
