Lace wig vs. vacuum wig
I am thinking about getting a Freedom Wig but I am not sure what to do. I currently wear a Peggy Knight lacey light. It grips to my head, but it's drving me nuts. I don't remember what it's like to wear a vacuum wig. I wore one over 5 years ago, and I am thinking about getting one. Is the Freedom wig more comfortable than a lace wig? Any imput would be great.

It's always a difficult thing to compare hairpieces as everybody buys the hairpiece that suits them for a myriad of reasons. I'm happy to help you with any information you need about a Freedom hairpiece as my daughter has worn them for 7 years. There is also a group here which may be helpful to you 'alopecians who have a freedom wig! (or are getting one)' This group was started by a little girl called Maya and has been a good place for those that wear Freedom hairpieces to get good sensible information.
There are many people that love their lace hairpieces, synthetics, mixed caps etc. and I'm sure they will tell you of their good experiences.
Do your homework and talk to as many people as you need as well as those that are trained about the product you are interested in.

What does a Freedom wig cost?. I have long 16 inch hair wigs) Can you sleep with it on? I live in Phoenix and die from the heat. Now I wear synthetic wigs, but take them off when I am alone. But it's a bitch in the summer time. I would never let my boyfriend see me without my wig on. He says he would not be comfortable without the wig. I also have a bad back (fused with all titanium) So to even find a boy friend is extremely difficult. No one accepts my bad spine, let alone no hair. It's so hot here in Phoenix, that I die from the heat and wearing long wigs. And I do not look good in short hair, plus the cap is still so..... hot. I am thinking of getting a custom lace human hair wig, but I know that sex will destroy the wig! it's such a dilemma! I need the wig to look and feel sexy, but I have to avoid going out side half the year t the extreme heat in Phoenix. All the synthetic wig caps are hot and you sweat horribly here in the summer time Help?? Any suggestions. I AM LIMITED IN THE MONEY DEPT AS WELL!
What does a good long lace human hair wig cost? How hot is the lace cap??

I love my lace system that is bonded to my head. It is no hotter than my own hair was and I can't even feel that I have anything on my head.I can even wear it in a pony tail. I order from hair direct and get four systems a year. I think they are about $500 each for 18 inches of beautiful platinum blonde Chinese human hair. I think if you order lace wigs from some Chinese vendors online you can get them for a lot cheaper and then tape or glue them on.

Hello. for me, prior to geting my vacuum I wore several synthetic hair wigs. Since I have had my vacuum I have tried my others and can't imagine how I even wore them. I can never go back and my vacuum is it for me. I do however have to shave my head daily to wear it..It is not like my whole hear of hair is atempting to grow back....but I have growth and to wear my hair I need to have a smooth surface. That is the part I hate the most, but has become routine for me...like puting my make up on. Sometimes my family tells me to leave it and try and se what grows but to tell you the truth, I am 43 now and I think having what I have (my fredom hair) is the best hair I wil have at this point. I do not have to worry about gray and plus I can tell with the growth that is trying to come it is not a normal head of hair anyhow. I think about how I wil be when I'm 70 or 80 will I feel like trying to manage a wig or not..at that time perhaps the hair that is attempting to grow back will be enough for me to be happy with....I can't handle going bald at this point in my life as I need heat on my head and plus prefer to just fit in to my environment at this time of my life.

Mine is much more comfy than my lace one was, just have to make sure its on perfectly straight, otherwise you feel it. It took me about a year to really truely get it right.

Thank you everbody for your input. I think at this time I am going to opt to go wiht a lace wig. Who knows though I might change my mind, that seams to happen a lot.

I hear the vacuum wig is hotter. If you want a snug fit and not come off I would suggest the gripper wig by follea. However, that's if you have no hair. If you have hair then you will want to look at the areo 2 style.

I have to disagree with the heat factor and the Freedom Wig. I wear one and it simply takes on your own temperature.
One of our clients just wore hers without any issue throughout the summer in Thailand and loved the security and ability to wear in a ponytail. She said the heat didn't play an issue with her hairpiece.
I wear my Freedom throughout our hot summers and have no issue with heat. I run, swim, camp, go to the beach, play volleyball and don't think about the heat one bit. In all honesty, the Freedom Wig truly helped me live my life with confidence in any temperature and during any event.

Thanks, I live in south Louisiana where it is hot and humid. So heat, as well as humidity is a factor. I like the idea of being able to pull up in a ponytail. The idea of swimming in it is appealing. How does that shorten the life span of the wig?

Hi Keisha,
If done properly and with care, both activities should not shorten the lifespan of the hair. If you swim in chlorinated pools, this will cause the hair to dry out over time as it does with regular hair. You want to wet the hair first before entering a chlorinated pool, to prevent the chlorine from soaking in the hair and then wash the hair as soon as possible once done swimming to eliminate the chemicals in the hair. Follow up with a good conditioner and your hair will stay soft and shiny. I swim in our lake without issue as there are no chemicals...I love it!
When wearing the hair up in a ponytail you don't want to wear the slicked back look or have it in the pony too tight. This would pull on the implant of the hair in the silicone and cause mechanical breakage of the hair over time. Alternating with ponytails, and wearing the hair down would help that situation.
