Is there such a thing as a non-adhesive lace-front wig? Also, for those of you who have lace-front wigs, is the adhesive hard to apply / remove? Not sure whether to get one and there is a no-return policy on most online stores, so I am nervous. There are no local wig retailers that stck them!

Any help will be appreciated!!

personally,I was not impressed w' a full-lace wig that i got.I put adhesive on it and it went into the hair.I ordered again from someone else and made sure there were tabs for the adhesive, but still
it was not my fav piece.A frnd recently bought lace-front, mono top and it looks really good on her.She doesn't hv to wear adhesive bc its on in the very front, then mono, the reg cap.
I do like Carmen's friend and use my lace only in the front. I like the structure of a wig that is not 100% lace. They just feel better to me. I usually have lace front added though I do cut bangs on most of them. If you work with a reasonable custom wig maker who will modify a stock piece, you're all set. There are times when I wear one of the new scarf-size headbands and pull all my hair off my face. It depends on how much depth of lace you want to have. I use just a little. With adhesive you need the right product to dissolve it and if the cut/fit is right it will lay flat on your forehead. To help alopecians, if you mention me when you call iwig.com 718.686.1115 to have wigs sent out on approval they will waive the $35 custom-fit charge for your cap sizing. Extra lace work will be an add on. Sweet. Their prices keep coming down and the hair is luscious. Their website is not up to date, so just call. In the past I recall about $1200 for Russian just below the shoulder hair (my grandparents were all Russian and Romanian), so I love love love that hair. I use very low density because for me to feel ok, my wigs need to feel weightless on my head. I'm wearing one in the photo of me and Amy Robach in the Today Show photos. They are like a custom boutique in customer service, so it's not the same as doing business with a mass market online retailer. Lace wig products are a dime a dozen on the internet as are video tutorials in how to buy the components and make them yourself. The rest of us need to find that seller who can communicate with the wearer and not just wear their sales hat all the time, deliver on their promises and back it up with an honest and fair return policy.

Hi Thea and Carmen,

Thanks so much for the advice! I am so new to all this and as you say, there are a million wig retailers online and ALL have a no return policy. I live in a smallish town and there are no decent retailers where I can try on, so I really have to be careful before I spend $$.

What do you think of this piece?

Yaffa is a good company that can also specialize in very high end and custom hair. To get a lot more feedback on them or on any particular product they sell, go to heralopecia.com and post a message. Lots of women on that site have experience with Yaffa, Flora and others. It's a very nice site for women btw. Check out the alopecia community section.

This particular wig in your link has potential I think. The front where the part meets the hairline ( is that a mono top?) does not look good and is the classic tell tale sign for " WIG Alert!". But, add a scarfed headband, hat or cut in bangs and it will likely be better.

this piece is economical for the length because it is Remy hair, not European, which can be ok.
what you're not getting for this price is a custom fit for the cap. Even if you provide your measurements and ask which size to buy, there are individual differences in ear size, ear placement, lumps and dips in heads, forehead height that can make a wig fit differently on every person. This unit may not look so great if you try to put the hair behind your ears. It will likely bunch up and be too bulky to stay behind your ears. The way they have it styled is with the hair covering the ears. Notice you dont see the view from the side with the ponytail style.

So....knowing the limitations, you could try it out. Follow their return policy to a T and know the fine print before you order if they will allow returns. With mass retailers usually you have only a few days and it must go back in like-new condition.

If the cap fit me, ( \or if they would custom fit it for me) I see this as an nice alternative piece and I would wear it with a wide fashion head band to cover all the hairline and ear issues.
